You guys do realise that you're confusing many of our members by talking about games that occured before 1996!

The 2-2 in 88 is a bit of a favourite.

And DB's first goals. Nice. 8)

That game (6-1 I think though) against the Saints (just a week or so before the FA cup final) always stands out in my mind, not just for the Pires/Pennant hat tricks but even more for my mate Joe (an old Arsenal campaigner that has been going for years and years) committing the hilarious drunken faux pas of singing "We are the North Stand Highbury" and getting absolutely slaughtered not just by us but also by every Gooner around him in the NB that day.

In his defence though, we had had a lovely long afternoon piss up in the beer garden of the Bank of Friendship before the game... :D 8)

Graham's first season late in 1986 (still one of my favourite seasons) we played Southampton at Highbury

It marked the clubs centenary and a lot of players from the past came out at half time to wave to the crowd. All done in a nice, class and understated way. Not the contrived drama we see now.

It looked like the occassion wouldnt get the result it merited but late in the game Stevie Williams hit a hard low shot that smacked back off the post at the North Bank end and Niall Quinn put the rebound in.

Cracking atmosphere at that game. Love those times.

I remember reading somewhere that he suffered quite badly from depression and never really got past that, kicked around the lower leagues for a while (Bournemouth possibly?) but I dont think he plays anymore.

My first Arsenal match 1-1 draw in 1980...Alan Sunderland scored.
Day after my 7th birthday...taken as a surprise..didn't believe I was actually going until we got to the ground...then instantly fell in love with Highbury.

The 2-2 in 2004.

I was just a youngin' at the time and it was my first ever Arsenal match (I believe it was our first game since our unbeaten run was stolen by Mike Riley and a diving ogre with a fetish for geriatrics).

I was all set to leave heartbroken when RVP popped up with that equalizer; I must admit, I've always had a soft spot for him because of this - would've been my second favourite ever Arsenal player had he not fu*ked off.

I remember going to lots of good home games v Southampton in the late 80s and early 90s standing in the JGs beside the pitch and then sitting West Stand lower. I recall we usually would win 4-0 or 4-1. I was there for the 2-2 (88-99?) where Paul Davis broke Glenn Cockerills jaw, I remember watching the game and not seeing it happen but hearing the crowd near the incident shouting "OOOH" after Davis whacked him.

Also the North Bank's final game 5-1 where Wrighty won the golden boot. :barscarf:

I was there (in East Lower) for the 4-2 win where Bergkamp got his first two Arsenal goals.

I was also there in the game mentioned by others the 6-1 where Pires and Pennant both got trebles.

More recently the 2-1 home defeat in this season's League Cup was very disappointing.
