Last day of the old North Bank, as the terracing was due to be knocked down to be replaced with a two tier stand as a result of the Taylor report. We had enjoyed a cracking end to the season with goals flying in from Wright, Limpar, etc and Wright needed to outscore jug eared Lineker to finish as golden boot winner.
A fairly mundane match burst into life in the second half, with goals going in aplenty but the real drama came in the last 2 mins, Seaman caught a hopeful goal attempt that was drifting well wide and threw the ball out to Wrighty, who bizarrely had come back into his own half, he ran, and ran, brushed off Terry Hurlock, and ran and ran some more until he was into the box where he buried a shot which put us 5-1 up, which added to his earlier penalty putting him level with Lineker who had scored as the spuds lost at Old Trafford.

Wrighty wasn't finished though as we poured forward again in the the dying moments and the ball fell to Wright in the box it bounced off his shin as he swung and sent the keeper the wrong way meaning he ended up top scorer

He was deliriously happy and at the end of the game threw his boots into the crowd, who at the North Bank end stayed for at least half an hour after the final whistle, to pay their respects to the old girl before she was bulldozed
