When Paddy came over from Ireland,
In praise of the AFC,
We hadn't won an awful lot since 1953,
Well he'd stand at the back of the Clock End,

We needed to pull something out the bag,

Now The Gunners they all played like heroes

Made sure that the Fairs Cup was won.
The next year things got even better
The Arsenal the best in the land
We marched up the Seven Sisters Road
And invaded every stand
We covered the whole of the High Road
And all the streets around
We knew that we would win the league
When we heard a familiar sound
Ray Kennedy's header was priceless
And as Paddy sang out aloud
The Gunners were once again Champions
And The Boys had done us proud

As we marched along Wembley Way
That Paddy just hadn't stopped singing
Since the match on the previous Monday

Thanks for that ,super . I remember learning the chorus bit up at Huddersfield away in the pouring rain . (A midweek league cup game in about 91) , the lad singing it was always known as letterbox head because if he turned his swede sideways it would fit thro a letterbox

REB ; We have been singing Jesus to Paddy since about 1982 it's a Herd Original , but I've never ever seen the above bit ,and none of us remember why we sang it we just knew we did and it caught on like wildfire ?
I suspect its been added long after but I'm fascinated nonetheless . Any clues chaps !
i have only ever heard one or two verse of the paddy song but the long version is class used to hear it at times at highbury and in the pub but now days dont hear it any more sad to say.
Fair enough , i see it refers to WHL 87 and Anfield 89 ,so its written after metinks .
I remember it from 82 and singing it for 25 mins non stop at Villa !
