ARTETA

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

It's all about (new buzzword coming) cohesion......
This cohesion must explain why Diaby is still stealing a living at Arsenal then? :rubchin:

Hes a really decent guy, played out of position for the cause, but now lost any pace he did have and its time to go afraid, good servant to the Arsenal, but its not a charity.........thats football

Should keep him around. I can see him moving to the coaching side of it this year. He's a well liked guy, who's experience is very valuable around a club with young players. I see no issue with, like Tommy, giving him a contract and keeping him around the club. People are so quick to just bomb people out without analysing the benefits of keeping them around.

we got better when Arteta was out and the Coq back in. Arteta can't do the defensive job well enough as the results showed last season.

I am sure he would gets paid a small fortune for doing feck all, he is not up to much when he plays, what a joke making him captain must be cos he has tidy hair.

He was made captain a year ago and you are bringing it up now ?? :? Arteta isnt just a pro with tidy hair - he was a model pro in so many aspects and seemed to bring that experienced older head that the other players respected and heeded. He is a guy that sacrificed the best parts of his game, to do a job for the team (cos le cock refused to go out and buy a proper DM  ) and he never once moaned about being played out of position. He is a guy that was so committed to joining us that he took a pay cut when he left everton to join us 8)

Arteta's legs have gone and of that we are all agreed, but he has been a model pro since he joined the club and deserves a lot better than the stick that he gets on here from some members
Agreed 100%. Have always said it. I remember at the time some certain idiots whining because Arteta wasn't throwing in the stupid Hollywood tackles like Mong did and Captain Stupid does. Of course they forget that the better, more intelligent DM's do the job a different way - they anticipate, they look at positioning and they try to dictate, they don't just react (which in Mong's and Capt Stupid's case was/is often too late). Arteta did the job quietly and intelligently and (mostly) effectively in those first 2 seasons.

Nothing but respect for Arteta, but I also agree he is past his best and we should free up his wage.

As much as he was once a solution, he was also part of the problem in the qualities he lacked.

Good professional though and should he go, all the best.
