interlull Euro qualifiers

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Germany reminded me of Arsenal. Dominated the game and had only 3 shots on target :D

I always said it, we should have bought Long when he was available, after all he did play for Cork City :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Was going to delete Barry's duplicate post but fuck it. We beat the World Champions and in a weird set of circumstances could go through instead of them because of head to head, :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Great result and a great goal but oh dear me, if we get through, we are on the first plane home. Awful game to watch. If Germany had really needed the win I think they could have tanked us tbh. Yeah we fought hard but we had nothing of quality going forward until Long's goal. :|

Again I was amazed by just how shite Wes Hoolahan is. He is like a more stupid over-elaborate version of Ramsey on Ramsey's worst backheeling dawdling on the ball day.

Also, can someone please explain how John fucking hoof O'Shea ever made it as a pro footballer, and indeed, a trophy winner with Manure?

Having to be carried off with a hammie injury doesn't bode well.

How many nasty-looking knee injuries etc does he have only to return in a surprisingly quick time? Wouldn't be surprised to see him come down with a really long lay-off some time this season because he's been rushed back so many times.

"It's like the old days" they said.. well it certainly was, except the 2015 version tries to credit the keeper with an assist. It was also like the old days when the hypocritical double standards that has blighted and rotted Irish life in general and also on playing pitches raised it's ugly head again. Shortly after scoring Shane Long blatantly dived and got a yellow card for Hummels. Jim Beglin acknowledged it on RTE but conveniently wasn't mentioned afterwards , six years of whinging about Henry's handball or six seconds of tut tutting , depends on circumstances I suppose.

Now we have two bandwagons to follow. "it's much different for the Green Army than it was last time Germany played here" said the nauseating George Hamilton.. Of course it was George, this time the " loyal fans" stayed til the end . Also was it necessary for Hamilton to have a dig at Tomas Muller for missing a chance (sitter) , especially in the context of his commentary which was about Muller (Tomas) being mentored by Muller (Gerd) who now is sadly suffering with Alzheimers. Tomas Muller 30 international goals in 66 games says enough.

On the game itself, only saw the second half but by all accounts the first was stale. I thought Ireland's best player was James Mc Carthy, not for football but for appetite and work-rate. Not sure I agree with DB10 on Hoolahan, he is no Messi but he has some creativity in him.
It was an unbelievable result for Ireland and I am delighted for them in that sense, sometimes you play with the hand you are dealt and O'Neill done that to perfection. It's the rubbish that goes with it that I cannot cope with.
