Weekend games 2-4th january

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

For all this "most unpredictable PL ever" bollocks, it's obvious who it's going to be. Shouldn't even be a contest

They should but they won't. City are as big a group of bottlers as anyone - the twice they won the league they chucked away winning positions despite being by far the best side in the league by capitulating and relied on Wigan/Everton in 2011/12 and then Chelsea in 2013/14.

But their win today underlines what wins you titles - staring at defeat and a bit of quality from Toure and clinical, quality goal-poaching from Aguero. Staring at a (deserved) defeat, and then a vital win thanks to Aguero creating and finishing a chance where they was no apparent danger. That's what wins you titles, not watching Giroud saunter about the pitch all season, pilfering a few tap-ins here and there. How many times will he bail us out of shit performances on the road and win us points by getting us a goal out of nowhere? He just won't.

NB123 more or less preempted what I was about to say. The destination of the PL title this year is obvious and a foregone conclusion. That any Arsenal fan can think we stand a chance, when there's 11 years of evidence is farcical. That obvious point aside, the difference is best illustrated up front: Aguero is still not fit yet but managed to pull an outstanding goal out of nothing to win Citeh a crunch match. When Arsenal were in a jam at Norwich, struggling at home to Newcastle and getting overrun by Southampton, Giroud barely existed.
People go on about Aguero hamstrings but an Aguero fit for even just half a season will always be worth far more to you than a fully fit Giroud/Wally over a whole season.

Arsenal have Ozil who is superb but won't win you a match, generally. Sanchez can but doesn't have the platform to do it. Citeh will have it wrapped up by end of March. Even that Egyptian farmer can prevent that

To be honest, the Gooners that I know are hopeful, but know that we probably won't win the title when it is probably the easiest to win. That being said, nearly all of them won't really lay the blame at Wengers door which is a bit odd because it fails the logic test.

City must fancy taking all 3 points now.

Sure enough 2-1. Absolutely woeful defending to let a pint-sized striker have a free header with the cross in the air for so long.

Pint sized or not, there are very few better players in the world - I know that neymar and the cannibal at barca might have a strong claim this season to dispute this, but for me aguero is the 3rd best player in the world and I would give my left testicle to see the guy playing up front for us

Aguero is absolutely quality - every time he gets the ball you feel like he's going to do something with it. As poor as that defending was yesterday, he has that priceless knack of being able to find space in the box when he has no right to.

If he stays fit for the rest of the season he will carry Man City to the title. Without doubt one of the very few truly class players remaining in the Premier League.
