He was being linked with a move away wasnt he? Newcastle was the supposed destination. To be honest i feel if we did put up a serious bid for him, he would have joined us. He has talked about Arsenal being his dream club and all and has also expressed a desire to play on the Champions League which no other club interested in him will provide but us.I Hate Hleb wrote:ALTHOUGH I CONCUR WITH YOUR SENTIMENTS, I'M NOT SURE THAT THE 'HAPPY TO BE 3RD CHOICE' PART IS CORRECT. AFTER ALL, HE HAS MORE OR LESS ESTABLISHED HIMSELF AS THE NEXT ENGLAND RIGHT-BACK IN PLACE OF NEVILLE AND WOULD PROBABLY LOSE THAT POSITION WERE HE TO BE JUST A RESERVE AT ARSENAL.Gunnerz4life wrote:Im surprised that we will be going for him. Micah Richards was a far better option if we were ready to spend the cash. He is a gooner, would have been happy to be 3rd choice for now and he isnt injury prone.![]()
WAYNO,
HASN'T HE SPLIT FROM THE LOVELY KATE? (WHO BY THE WAY IS A BIG GOONER!!)

I agree re the Toure injury theory, and there's also a precedent for making a late move: remember Wenger came in very late for Michael Carrick when he was leaving West Ham and had all but signed for Portsmouth? The Pompey move stalled because Carrick fancied coming to us more, then Wenger decided against it and Carrick ended up going to United via Spurs.flash gunner wrote:I really think there must be a problem with toures injury thats why it has been left so lateMagic Hat wrote:I'm sceptical, would Arsene really make a move so late when all and sundry knew Woodgate was on the market?

Would much rather have woody than lescott - please please sign for us woodgate
My cousin(also a Gooner) will not be a happy man though as he has always slated him over his injury record but I still believe that he would be a class signing in an area that is badly needed. If it is true, and he decides to turn us down to sign for the y*ds then he clearly is not motivated by success and it would be a bad move for him. I understand the comments about not wishing to be 3rd choice but surely if you are a top player in any position you would feel confident in your ability then you would believe that you are good enough to win your place ? Bring him in wenger and a striker and keeper now that you have started

Smoothie, havent we got plenty of young promising talent(djouru & the norwegian for starters) ? What we havent got, and is a source of major concern for some of us, is enough older experienced players to guide these lads along. I would be the 1st to recognise woodgates injury history but there is no way of getting away from the fact that when he is fit he is a class centre back that can read the game and has enough pace as well. Anyway if we were going for a younger option micah richards would make more sense than lescott anyway
