Senderos Again

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I felt Senderos was playing well last night until the switch to full back - putting our slowest defender against the pace of McCarthy probably was a decision Wenger now regrets.

Although I doubt he regrets it as much as taking Baptista off Madrid, or allowing Henry to put his feet up at home when the team travel up to another mid-week game in the north - amazing how many short lived injuries our captain gets before certain of our northern away trips.

Baptista and Aliadiere have scored a few important goals this term but lets be totally honest and ask whether these two are good enough - I clearly think they are not. Aliadiere should go this summer, his league performances have been lacking and I think he gets cut some slack because at least he's having a go. Baptista is far too inconsistant and unreliable - not great traits for a high earning and expensive footballer.

It's been a shite end to a fantastic run and I think it will get worse before it gets better too - I am not particuarly looking forward to the PSV second leg next week!

Totally agree Pav Baptista and Aliadiere are not good enough.I cant believe Aliadiere is still at the club when Wenger has let other players go.He has been on loan to three inferior clubs than Arsenal yet none of them wanted to sign him, after 8 years at the club he cant get a regular 1st team place he never will.I love Wengger but i think he is acting stubbornly over Aliadiere.
As for Baptista i think we were so glad to get rid of Reyes and Madrid only wanted him on loan we had to take Baptista. To think the year before Wenger wanted to pay £14 million for him.

I personally think everyone mentioned is to blame! Sendros IS a liability and does cost us matches. Aliadere and Baptista can't finish, and Wenger should never have put Sendros as right back. Overall a poor performance and yet another cup we are out of. Graham Poll is a WANKER

The lad is good enough but we need to as a group of fans let him know that we are all behind him. This includes Gilberto who runs and runs for the team with nothing back from the fans. Please stay with the boys, they will be back to the destructive best.

Pascal, sorry Phillipe should have shown McCarthy down the line and not allowed him to get a shot off. School boy error, show him down the line and block the cross we had numbers in the box. C'mon Phil sharpen up and do it quick!!

We should have won on Wednesday long before Blackburn scored so you can't pin the defeat solely on Senderos. However the occassions keep adding up as each match passes which indicate more and more limitations in his game that question whether he's good enough to play at the highest level.

Even had McCarthy stuck his shot over the bar and we gone on to win, the fact stilled remains that Senderos was shown up to be slow and cumbersome. I know he was a centre half being asked to play at right back, but in the modern game you need mobility and pace across your entire back line. Toure and Gallas prove that point. Wenger improves players, but you can't coach pace and quick feat. Without it I think Senderos will continue to get exposed and cost us more game.

This is just my observation of the issue and isn't an attack on big Phil. While he's in the team I'll continue to back him. You could never accuse him of giving anything less than 100%. I just think he lacks the final ingredients to make it at the very top.

Fabianski will be getting nervous - he thought he was a clear winner in the League of "How many cups can one man lose in a season"
