Agree 100% augie, the clubs are calling the shots on everything already .augie wrote:Nos89 wrote:I've said it before and I'll say it again. This is a great opportunity for Fifa to scrap the world cup and international football as it is no longer relevant. It should focus on domestic leagues and grass roots football, and the women's domestic game.
I'm not a huge fan of international football but if you think that scrapping it will lead to a higher focus on grass roots football then you are deluded - the reason why international football's importance has dwindled in recent years is because of the wealth and power the big clubs have in the game (and the mega money that players are now earning), and doing away with international football will only strengthen the control that these clubs have on the game and believe me that wont be good

But I don't remember being on here giving it the large one about how good England are ! You're spouting nonsense about surpassing England in world football.....on the back of what? One tournament - big fucking deal.gp543 wrote:Rankings are largely inaccurate and meaningless (England were 3rd in 2012 lol) and your lone global tournament win was 49 years ago. What the USA needs is coin and they are scouring the world for slush funds .
FIFA has Billions but the USA will impose mahooosive fines that will cripple FIFA and that's just the start .
They will turn over the whole of football and it wont be pretty .
Blatter is fucked but with the ludicrous one sided treaties that the USA has with many countries your sovereignty is fooked and they can turn up anywhere !
Next stop the IOC !
The last thing we need is cash.
One place above Scotland, and five below Wales - well done you ! Who's the goaltender these days ?
Missed England's match in the round of 16 last summer. Who did they play?
When you've got the gold star above your badge get back to us. Discredit it all you like....49 years, Russian linesman blah blah.....are you sure you're not Scottish

Think the US would find it tricky getting out of UEFA qualifying for World Cups tbh

The Germans famously can never be arsed with friendlies. It may (or perhaps not) be causing a stir across the pond but most Europeans will put it down to the usual disinterest in these games from most established footballing nations, the Germans especially

it wasn't a big deal. everyone knows its a friendly. but we did beat the dutch and germans in the span of 5 days on their pitch, which for a team of youngsters like we have right now is fairly impressive. Klinsman has done a good job bringing in young talent. And Arsenal's own Gideon Zelalam is going to be our best player at Russia 2018.

Honestly mate, you lose me with whoppers like this.Yankee_Gooner_Dandee wrote:it wasn't a big deal. everyone knows its a friendly. but we did beat the dutch and germans in the span of 5 days on their pitch, which for a team of youngsters like we have right now is fairly impressive. Zelalem hasn't played a single match for the senior team yet (meaning he is not tied to the US going forward) and did not get picked for the 35-man provisional squad for the Gold Cup (CONCACAF Continental tournament) this summer.
He'll only be 21 by the time Russia comes around and I don't forsee him making the starting XI much less being our most impressive player.

Shamed FIFA president Sepp Blatter is showered in fake dollar bills by British comedian during press conference... and told 'this is for North Korea in 2026!' Comedian Simon Brodkin interrupted Sepp Blatter during speech in FIFA press conference held in ZurichBrodkin, appearing as alter ego Jason Bent, threw money over Blatter before being escorted away by securitySwiss police took Brodkin away in a police vehicle following his stunt which left Blatter visibly furious.

Priceless.
His response is tinged with irony.

Re: FIFA bribery arrests/Blatter Resigns!!
Anybody who thinks this is a new dawn for world football is sadly mistaken.
FIFA is still packed full of cheats and scammers who have no interest in football. These so-called reforms that are desperately needed are being designed and implemented by the crook who has presided over this corruption for several decades. The bloke whose job was untenable so he tendered an immediate 8-month resignation whilst retaining power.
And to top it all off the heir apparent? Michel Platini, the second-most power hungry agenda-driven twat in football. He might not be skimming the cash in the same way as other FIFA officials but he will pursue his own warped agenda and the keys to the power will be vested in one man exactly like with Blatter. Fucking prick.

Re: FIFA bribery arrests/Blatter Resigns!!
I don’t want to keep banging this particular drum, as I’m sure all regulars on here know my views on this arse-handle of an organisation, so I'll just add this:
It has been bent as fuck since Joao Havelange held the reins, and probably a lot longer than that. Whatever ’reforms’ are introduced will just be window-dressing, so they can herald a new era for the “Football Family”
and re-up their lucrative sponsorship deals.
FIFA makes the pre-reform IOC seem like the fucking Red Cross. It is an organisation of *word censored*, for *word censored*.
