Jolly good result although we were crap for most of the game but were ruthless when it counted - you can't play well for every minute of every game!

Right, off to redcafe I go

But we cannot run them into the ground, its good to have Arteta to mix it up a bit - Ramsey deserved a rest after playing the full 90 in both international's.
For me Arteta did ok - we missed Flamini's terrier like work hunting down the opposition, which Arteta doesn't provide.

Stepped up a gear in the last 10 mins when it could have got a little uncomfortable.
Didn't play at our best at times bit also played some sublime stuff in parts.

Giroud set up the first 2 :barscarf:
Ramsey scored 1 and made 1 :barscarf:
Ozil scored 2 :barscarf:
Rosicky looked hungry when he came on :barscarf:

Santi was a little out of sorts but I guess to be expected

Hope Flamini is ok for Tuesday

I'd imagine he's annoyed with their form this season but vindicated with his decision to join United every time he looks at his Premier League winners medal and bank balance.

Flamini went off and they just strolled through our midfield up until our CBs. Arteta cant do the same job. We need to find a solution because flamini cant play every game.

Arteta is good at breaking up play, but he doesn't have the Umphhh, Legs and Rotweiler like attitude that flamini has...so wenker needs to choose Arteta's games carefully...perhaps against those teams who don't match us for pace. :?

Arteta is more of a creator and holding player - he scored a lot of goals for the toffees from free kicks and took their corners.

no way can he do a flamini or Vieira type roll.

It was just a cheap dig but I have to laugh at Utd flailing around in mid table like some fat bloke desperately trying to climb the stairs.

I don't think he's expected to. Gilberto also wouldn't suit the Vieira role, but that wasn't expected of him and nor should it be. Wrong type of player.

In Flamini's absence, I'd expected Arteta to shield the defence in a more Gilberto/Carrick way (not saying those 2 are the same role) where it's less about energy and fight, and more about positioning and control.

Of course, you may not think Arteta does that role well enough, but if you expect him to play a Flamini/Vieira role then you're on a hiding to nothing because it won't happen in million years.

but thats what we need - a true enforcer, a workhorse. bearing in mind how small and lightweight the current midfield is.
