I won’t be a QTW like some of the other undesirables on here Augie so I’ll start this own fresh.

We sign Mbappe and we win the league, I’m absolutely convinced of that. Never gonna happen though because the costs involved would be eye watering. PSG are looking for £180m for him, you could probably get him for a bit less now that he’s in the final year of his contract but expect to pay a minimum of 160.

The fee itself wouldn’t actually be the biggest obstacle mind, it would be his wages, he’s earning just shy of £2m per week at PSG He’d look to at least match that here (Jesus is our current top earner on around 260 grand a week for comparison) which we couldn’t do, not sure any club in the league could, bar city and they’d still have to double what they pay their top earner as they “only” pay Haaland 900 grand a week.

Him and his army of representatives, agents and hangers on are also looking for a cool £100m signing on bonus for the pleasure of inking the contract so all in you’re looking at half a billion to have him here for 3 seasons.

I said all along that us signing mbappe is the longest of long shots, but I'm also pointing to his comments stating that we would be his first choice premier league club to join, and thinking maybe If we didnt spunk £65m away on havertz we could have thrown that money at mabappe to entice him, but to listen to some on here it doesnt matter where we throw our money around cos it isnt coming from our coffers anyway We are not owned by a saudi state and havent got a bottomless pit of money in which to spoil ourselves, so yes while we can afford to splash the cash to a degree, it does come with consequences and once it is gone it is gone, so pissing it away on sub-standard shit isnt viable if we want to win the big trophies

Yeah he turned down the Saudi blood money but only because he’s hell bent on joining Madrid.

Even if we had a sheikh prepared to blow his wad and throw half a billion at him, I still don’t think he’d come. PSG are convinced he’s already done a deal with Madrid to join this summer and are carrying out an investigation to bring a case against them for tapping him up.
