🚨 David Raya will sign a five-year contract at Arsenal. He will undergo his medical & sign contracts in the next two days. [@LucaBendoni] #afc

Total package of David Raya deal will be close to £30m total package fee, being clarified in the next hours 🚨🔴⚪️

Raya will sign contract until June 2028 at Arsenal, medical later this week.

Brentford make huge profit, they signed Raya for £2.7m from Blackburn in 2019.
Well, that puts to bed some of the whinger's comments about us overpaying for him.

We offered less than the spuds and Brentford said no to £35m!

You are taking things out of context there - we are still over-paying IF he is back up keeper, but if he is first choice keeper that is a different story. I dont think I have seen even one negative comment questioning Raya's ability or questioning if he is good enough to be first choice - I personally dont like the idea of having two keepers of a similar (or near similar level) level in the club cos it rarely works out and one keeper quickly becomes disgruntled, but I am ok with Raya being our number 1 keeper if ramsdale is sold though that appears unlikely to happen

I bet Brentford want 50m plus for him still.......

Oddly enough That's what I thought.

:D

Tbh, with 105m for Rice and 65m for Havertz, I don't see how 50m for Toney would be at all unreasonable. I'd have him all day long in front of Havertz.
Arteta, or should that now be "Tets" :D Won't touch him with a barge pole now because he (Toney) has blotted his copy book after being done for illegal gambling under FA Rules.

I said we should have signed or tried to sign him (Toney) the season before last. He's Big, Strong and a Very Good Finisher, also I don't think he has missed a penalty yet. :?

Inter director Ausilio on talks with #AFC for Flo Balogun: “We want someone who can score goals and for sure Balogun is one of the opportunities, but not the only one we are tracking”. ✨🇺🇸

“Lukaku deal? I’m not interested”.

I’ve a feeling that if Toney 365 hadn’t gotten a ban we’d have gone for in him this summer, and my other feeling is that once his ban is up in January we’ll be back.
That's my hope too Rodders - it can't have escaped the attention of the management team that Jesus isn't anywhere near prolific enough (not to mention the new injury king), and with them set to sell Balogun, that leaves Eddie as the sole option......unless there really is a genius ploy to adopt Havertz as false 9.

Once Toney has served his time it wouldn't surprise me to see clubs queuing back up for him

No concerns that it will be too late by then ? Personally I dont see el basque signing a striker to play ahead of jesus - jesus is his guy and he brought him from citeeh and I dont envisage him signing anyone that might upset that relationship. I believe that arteta is similar to the old senile french cock in that he believes he can re-write conventional wisdom and win without a proper goal scoring number 9 - that wont work imo
Could well be too late by then Augie, but I suppose similar to what happened last season, we’re banking on the goals being shared around between Odegaard, Saka, Martinelli and Jesus until then (and who knows maybe Havertz and Eddie might chip in with a few too).

When you look around at what’s out there in the striker market at the moment and you’ve got the top tier - Mbappe - off to Madrid, Kane - off to Bayern and Osimhen - has the Saudi’s sniffing around him.

Below that I’m not sure where we’d look, Toney would be perfect, knows the league, proven scorer and would slot straight in - and who knows maybe Eddie might go the other way as part of the deal (let’s hope he gets a few goals between now and January to boost his price!).

Ollie Watkins was another name bandied about on here before and even though I like him I’d rather wait for Toney.

Any other names out there you reckon we could/should be targeting as a 20+ league goal hitman?

When you look at the striker options at two of europe's top international teams like spain (morata or joselu) and germany (less than prolific havertz), it does back up your point about the lack of quality strikers out there these days.

Personally I would suggest making a cheeky call to psg offering jesus plus cash for mbappe - it would be a very long shot I know, but reality is that they do not want to sell to madrid and dont want him to leave for free next summer, so might be willing to negotiate now that mbappe has made it clear he aint going to saudi

I like Toney too but if we were looking for a striker now, I still like mitrovic as a goal machine - isnt the fastest player I know, but will be where he is needed if saka and martinelli are pinging in crosses to the penalty area.

That's what we need, someone who can do that.
I see Chuba Akpom was top scorer in the Championship last season. He never accounted for much when we had him but did good elsewhere.
I'm not suggesting we get him back but what about taking a punt on one of the other top scorers in the Championship or even League One.
These guys may not be household names but are banging in 20 - 30 goals a season for their respective teams. they're strikers and doing what strikers are supposed to.
Probably wouldn't cost a fortune either.

🆕 Arsenal rejected a €40m offer from AS Monaco for Folarin Balogun. ❌

The French side are expected to return for a second bid. 💰

Great deal. Under 30m for Raya and 10m back on Turner to Forest, paying under 20m for a top keeper is a no brainer. We'll probably ship Ramsdale out in a year/year and a half for 45-50m. Good business.

I still want to see a striker coming in but that won't happen with Arteta's new lovechild Kai in place. :banghead:

I won’t be a QTW like some of the other undesirables on here Augie so I’ll start this own fresh.

We sign Mbappe and we win the league, I’m absolutely convinced of that. Never gonna happen though because the costs involved would be eye watering. PSG are looking for £180m for him, you could probably get him for a bit less now that he’s in the final year of his contract but expect to pay a minimum of 160.

The fee itself wouldn’t actually be the biggest obstacle mind, it would be his wages, he’s earning just shy of £2m per week at PSG  He’d look to at least match that here (Jesus is our current top earner on around 260 grand a week for comparison) which we couldn’t do, not sure any club in the league could, bar city and they’d still have to double what they pay their top earner as they “only” pay Haaland 900 grand a week.

Him and his army of representatives, agents and hangers on are also looking for a cool £100m signing on bonus for the pleasure of inking the contract so all in you’re looking at half a billion to have him here for 3 seasons.

Game’s gone mate 8)
