Thats where I am too - I know at the end of the day the 3pts is paramount but for me a late winner doesnt mask the pure absolute shite performance that the team put on again today in much the same way I would argue that conceding a last minute goal wouldnt have made our performance any worse than if we hadnt of conceded. Yes it is a results business and winning playing badly is a trait that we used to love in years gone by but back then those type of days were a rarity while nowadays they are a frequent occurance  Do we aspire to become a team that regularly wins by playing well ? If we do then we have to look beyond the 3pts sometimes and acknowledge that we are a poor team going nowhere fast
I disagree. For much of my football-supporting life it has been clear that both winning after playing badly, and getting three points full stop, are what the best teams are all about.

Let's try to enjoy that we are making something of a season that we all feared at the start, might have unprecedented consequences. It is hard to see what we would have to.do to please some people. The glass is half full right now, looking at the big picture.

Wenger got the subs spot on today, we were losing the plot in midfield. This team is not going to be as pretty as previous teams but fair play last 15 minutes we were the only ones going to score. Would have been a bad Christmas without the 3 points. :barscarf:

I didn't think that TV did too badly donaldo, but yea we do need a left back. Seem to remember Seb Larsson doing a job back there a few years ago when Ashley Cole and Gael Clichy had the exact same injury. Should never have let him go......;)

what has that got to do with anything?
we are in a battle with Spurs and Chelsea for 3rd place.
I was more annoyed Man Utd won tonight - still think we could pip them to 2nd

What on earth makes you think we can catch Manchester United? They will finish around 15 points (at least) in front of us.

When Manure wins ugly, the whole world lets you know of how great they are scrapping out a good result(not discounting how much Fergie time is added on) . When we win(even in the last dying seconds) it seems to always be luck.

We have every chance of catching United

they have to visit the Emirates next month as well as having to go to Newcastle and Chelsea - tough away games

by then we may only be 5/6 points behind them, they will be out of the title race and with their injuries stacking up,they may well fall apart.

And again I will point out that winning ugly sometimes is great but when most of your wins are coming that way then shouldnt that be a major concern ? When manure win ugly, and in past years when we won ugly, it showed a team that knows how to win playing great football but can also win without playing so great so the comparison with this Arsenal team is totally redundant cos our wins playing well are almost as rare as their wins playing ugly :( :(

Unless you've forgotten its normally US that find ourselves shatting it come the end of the season.

We have scraped it today by the skin of our teeth which is obviously a good sign but there is absolutely no way that we can catch ManYoo.

The GIC himself admitted that Man City are out of our reach and Man Utd are only 2 points behind them.

As for injuries- they are missing their best defender in Vidic and since then they have started picking up clean sheets. They walloped Fulham 5-0 at Craven Cottage when we couldnt even muster a win against them at home..

I'll try not to labour the point but they have strength in depth a concept that our dear leader is not familiar with.

Say what you want about Song, but we missed him badly today. Frimpong is nowhere near his level.

Thank fuck for Arteta who again was sublime and held our midfield together.

We won. 3 points. That's the positive.

However....

I am sick and fucking tired of pregnant forehead c**** GERVINHO.
What an absolute piece of shit he truly is. £11 milion of dog shit. Useless, I won't tire of saying it but he is the Ivorian Tony Daley. No vision, no brains, no footballing intelligence and no clinical finishing. He is fucking shit.
If people have a go at Walcott for running very fast and nothing else then what does this overpaid c*** do? He does not 'need time' he is shit.

He does not have the intelligence. When Pires first struggled in England you could tell he had intelligence and knew how to give it, he just needed to adapt to the pace.

Next up, another of the shower of shit panic buys from the summer: Per Mertesacker. I thought that John Terry goal he was guilty for at Chelski was a joke. But then I saw the goal he fucked up on at Norwich. If that was bad enough, what about tonight? Mertesacker more and more with each passing match looks like the German Phil Senderos. No pace, no positioning. I actually called this when we signed him: the reason Mertesacker is decent for Germany is because he has a tactical manager who gives him the protection of Torsten Frings.

At Arsenal, he has brainless morons like Alex Thong.

Oh and what about Aaron Ramsey? After his flicks and tricks galore at Citeh, he thought he would treat us to another exhibition of how to perform like a lamb shawarma stuffed with vomit dressing. Pathetic, don't care about his age it isn't acceptable.

And how about the amazing Arteta? The myth? Pfffft.

This Villa team is abysmal and Arsenal scraped and struggled to get anything out of them. That team out there tonight would have been destroyed by Arsenal's Carling Cup team of 2002. You put a team with the likes of Grimandi, Wiltord, Kanu, and even Franny fucking Jeffers then they'd be better than some of the clowns I am seeing in an Arsenal kit.

FRIMPONG?? Who is this little upstart? Reading his Twitter, you'd think he was ballon d'Or. Why was a child playing at right-back tonight? Why? And getting skinned and destroyed? A club with over £80 million in hoarded profits is playing a child midfielder at right-back. It's fucking ridiculous.
And the reason he was playing here?

Why, because our reserve right back from League1/Conference was injured.

This Arsenal team is unbelievably mediocre, it lacks balance all over the place and has horrible players in various positions earning fat wages. It's a joke. January can't come soon enough.

I can't wait for Wayne Bridge to come in myself....
