Of course, you may not think Arteta does that role well enough, but if you expect him to play a Flamini/Vieira role then you're on a hiding to nothing because it won't happen in million years.
but thats what we need - a true enforcer, a workhorse. bearing in mind how small and lightweight the current midfield is.
Oops, sorry mate - missed the first paragraph of your post

I actually agree a little more than I realised  - ignore my post!

i'm sorry but i love flamini. ramsey v2.0 at it again, amazing. rosicky looked really good and giroud is a top class passer. the great dane even looked pretty good.

but there was about 30 mins out of the 90 where we strolled around the park. not good enough against better quality teams. they need to play with intensity all 90 mins.

Yes, good point. And Flamster does put himself about considering his size - reminds me of how gatusso was - he was a small nasty animal who liked to up-end the opposition.

Great goals and some great play, but Jack needs to learn that he's not got the pace to run through the whole defence. Save it, and the little flicks, for the final third and he looks good.
Arteta was mediocre today, hopefully just a fitness issue.
Santi and Ozil looked a bit heavy-legged, but still look class.

We still looked poor in spells and are definitely unbalanced, but hey-ho, we're top of the league.

A couple of top signings in Jan and the good times might be on their way back.

That's exactly the kind of stuff I try to pull off whenever I play football. Unfortunately the execution is pure evo stick league

yup. he encourages that panic and get rid of it mentality that the likes of Vieira, Keane, Parlour, Essien, thin Davids, savage, bowyer put on their opposition. they just play a high tempo, leave their foot in, harrass and can pick a pass when they need to.

without that 'bite' in midfield, the opposition feel they have time and space to pass through us rather than a quick hoof forward that we can close down and cut out.

both Vieira and Petit had bite, as did Giberto and Edu, and then Gilberto and Cesc - and we had Parlour and Freddy alongside them too working their arses off.

which walcott, cazorla, rosicky don't do. Jack is box to box and Ramsey is 50/50 holding player and forward right now, so we need a player to make up the gap - flamini, perhaps one of the young players like Jenkinson, or preferably a specialist signed in the gap that can rotate with flam and jack.

Flamini went off and they just strolled through our midfield up until our CBs. Arteta cant do the same job. We need to find a solution because flamini cant play every game.

Fantastic win today for the lads, looks like someone has gotten Jack to buck his ideas up, nice to see him put in a proper shift this weekend.

Game didn't switch on until that amazing first goal, surely a goal of the season with that passing. Sadly the loss of Flamini left us so uncomfortably exposed. :banghead: nice to see Chesney make some good saves. what a difference having Santi back makes, Rambo and Giroud amazing too, and Ozil... :barscarf:

Got to give props to everyone who stood up and sung "We're the North bank, Highbury!" especially in response to those in the East Stand, nice one lads. :barscarf:

Thought we definitely looked tired today, there was a good third of the game at least where we looked like we couldn't be arsed. The pace was gone and most noticeably the pressing to win the ball back was totally non-existent.

But who gives a fuck, we won 4-1! :barscarf:
