The coup de grace in Munich

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Their bench was mighty impressive though, wasn't it? :o

We had players of that calibre once
Kanu, Wiltord, Edu damn those were the days.

Looks like our physio team have been playing physio simulator again, cus half the team is crocked as usual.

yup. if we could ever get this lot at 0-0 or 1-0 down i think we'd see a more ruthless Bayern/other team...

Good result - the stiffs did well, not a big loss to dent our confidence, in fact we're on an unbeaten run aren't we ? LOL.

Ozil apart, we're intact for Sunday and the Cup.

not a bad Tuesday night - even Brentford won and Leeds got thumped at home by Reading.

I'm off to walk the dog while the Prawn Quiche brigade cry, "oh Arsene, denied by a Red card again..."

but sage words from John Hartson :
"Bayern Munich were the better side tonight, make no bones about it. They were better in possession and they created more chances, the only disappointment for them is that they didn't score more goals.

"Arsenal were just not up to scratch tonight, they were well beaten. Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and say you're just not good enough at this level.
nobody knows more than JH about not being good enough at the top level. nobody.

Thought we played well on the night against one of the top 2 or 3 sides in the world. Hard to be critical - just hope we haven't paid the price with injuries chasing the dream

I have to say that of the starting 11, Ozil, Cazorla and Arteta were fucking shit. Arteta especially was fucking awful, and Cazorla couldnt make a fucking pass to save his life.

Well played Ox, BFG, Kos, TV, and Flappy.

I was praying that in the 93rd minute when it was clear we were out that TV or Flamoney would kick the little fucker properly and end his season. Horrible, diving, cheating, little *word censored*. Congrats to him for being the only player in world football with more of a mincing running style than Aaron 'Invisible Handbag' Lennon

Did as well as expected I suppose - prior to the game you just want to avoid injuries but as soon as the game starts you get nervy and start shouting at the telly

Have to say that giroud and to a lesser degree cazorla were woeful tonight and rosicky was so shit, I would have subbed him instead of arteta

Ox and both centre backs were outstanding imo - for me the ox showed already that he is way better than wally in that he is direct and can dribble past players at will 8) I thought BFG dominated all around him tonight 8)

I'm not seeing how people can be happy with that performance. We could barely string 3 passes together all night, none of our big names turned up. A young inexperienced kid showed them all up, what does that tell you about the lack of bottle which is ingrained in this team through the manager.

This was another men against boys situation, we were bossed at every level. Munich didn't really have to turn up.

What is the point of Giroud? The sad thing is we will be stuck with him as our main striker for at least another season while the nutty professor has complete faith in him.

you answered your own question - "when its too late" . you think any Bayern player tonight really cared about other than not losing by two clear ?

their heads are on the 51st win, becoming Das Invincibles, and THEN the next round of the CL in that order.

Just like us, their fans were praying no major injuries or suspensions I bet.

Yeah, that's all very impressive, but he's no Sanogo. I mean, what was thinking, aiming at the goal?

Complain about squad depth but we had Wilshere, Walcott and Ramsey all injured, POTY from 2011, 2013 and the first 6 months of this season. The glaring problem once again was a striker incapable of doing anything more than win a few headers.
