Left his decision right up until the final whistle at wembley and we had won. (He had previously said he would do it in January)
8 Mil a year (or whatever he is on, if it's less it's still far too much), no pressure, stubborn to a fault, a free hand to do anything he wants, do you really reckon he would have resigned from all that?
I do mate. I think he was definitely feeling the pressure. He needed that cup. His ego needed that cup. With an ego that size how could he have renewed after another trophyless season? Thats why he left it to the very last minute, after we had actually, definitely won a trophy to announce he was staying. That cup, welcome as it was at the time is a poisoned chalice.
Wish you were right Armchair but I think you underestimate just how much of a graceless, charmless, narcissistic a-hole this guy truly is. If you want further proof then just read that l'Equipe fashion shoot/interview. The guy slates Real Madrid for their sporting model FFS. This was published the day after getting tanked 5-1 at Bayern, and the most pathetic CL showing ever. Remember 8-2? Any big manager walks after that. How about losing 6-3 at Citeh, following that up with 5-1 at Anfield, followed up by 3-0 at Everton, followed by a 6-0 thrashing by Jose in your 1,000th game?!
Any sign of him quitting then? Nope. It's always the ref, austerity, oil money, Simon Cowell or the fans who are ingrates. It's never him. Deep narcissistic despot who thinks you and me ought to worship the ground he walks on. Never forget his quite in that interview:
"I am a facilitator of all that is beautiful in man"

If you know of a single other elite manager that woulda done that fashion shoot and uttered that ludicrous interview - especially given years of failure...m

I believe that contract extension had already been agreed and signed in secret. Ages before the FA Cup final. He was just waiting for the perfect opportunity to beat a rubbish team to announce it. Hull, (relegated that year) duly obliged.
You could be right mate. And I agree his new contract was on the table, but not signed. I just reckon he was waithing until after the final to announce it.. The difference with the embarrassing defeats you mention is that those were during the season and mid-contract, not right at the end like 2014. But its all moot now fs. Will we ever see the back of him............?

"We have players that play in Coquelin's position like Mathieu Flamini and others that can play in his position like Calum Chambers," said Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

If Le Bell End says two months you can pretty much write the lad's season off right now.

Wenger on if he will sign a replacement for Coquelin: "I will do what is needed in January knowing that it is not an ideal market" #Arsenal
5:02pm - 23 Nov 15

Obviously there are no ideal markets at any stage of the year then Arsene

I think it will be a good time out, looking closely at the injury the Albion player gave the ball and his leg a hell of a kick so the shin pad came out. Very nasty injury, and a little different to the usual twisting style ACL injury. http://arsenalist.com/f/2015-16/wba-vs- ... -game.html. Cannot agree with the it was an unnecessary challenge though, its how he plays, and 999 times in a thousand he will be fine and impose himself on the game.

Chambers just isnt up to it- needed to go on loan, Flamessi is after a hat trick after missing out V scum. Not sure any acadamy players are especially good at DM- Crowley I think is more an attacking one, but suppose he could be a surprise feature V Norwich or Sunderland. The idea of Rambo as DM is laughable.

God dreading the thought of him crowbarring Ramsey into that role.

The only position he has ever prospered in is as a box to box midfielder. He is fucking useless as a winger or a number 10 and will be fucking useless as DM.

hey, I'm fond of my halo thank you very much

I don't think Wenger would have left even if we'd lost the FA Cup final.

Plenty want him gone (including me) because he's had more than enough chances but I just don't think his ego would have allowed himself to walk away as a failure in 2014. He'd rather run us into the ground trying to prove everyone wrong. :|

So, on balance, I'd rather we won as I'm not convinced losing will force him out.

He'll go eventually mate :barscarf:
I understand that thought process but the problem with it is that if he wouldn't walk away a loser, and he didn't walk away when he was a winner, then when or how is he ever going to walk away ???
Well, he's been here 20 years so far through thick and thin, so there's your answer  ..... he's going nowhere until old age forces his hand in some way :(

Bang goes the league title, Coquelin was that important.

If some clogger took out Ozil or Giroud in the next one then it's time to start measuring that gap to Tottenham again.

Ah convenient excuse lined up already for abject failure in the league again this season.

Who knows what would have happened if he hadn't got injured? Oh wait, everyone - we would have been title race also-rans because you just don't win the league with a lone striker like Giroud and a complete lack of defensive culture like we see time and time again.

Coquelin has done a decent job this season but he is far from a world class performer. The idea that fans on both sides of the Wenger divide seem to have that the right DM will cure all of our defensive woes and single-handedly transform the side into a sturdy and resilient outfit is laughable - but if there was any player capable of doing that then Coquelin isn't it.

So what's your thoughts on Wenger not buying the cover everyone and their dog knew we would need at some stage?

By saying the league is gone because of the coq's injury are you saying that Wenger is partly to blame for us not being in contention?
