Re: LEAGUE CUP V COVENTRY CITY
Seems they brought more fans tonight than they have brought in total over the last 40 years !
Along with Wigan one of the poorest away followings on the planet but fair play they were there in force.

Re: LEAGUE CUP V COVENTRY CITY
just finished watching the game. was impressed with coquelin. martinez looks more solid than manonne, specially in the air. arshavin was lazy and frustrating at times, but behind the striker he can always 'cause trouble to the opposition - he is not flawless like cazorla but made his fair share of good through balls. wenger saying he's better behind the striker than in the wing because of his work rate is so obvious and ridiculously late
good goals from walcott even though i thought the second one was amateur defending. why their centrehalf didn't close theo down is beyond me. anyway, good that he and arshavin were decisive, i'm sure we'll need criativity in the squad as the season goes by.
coventry were poor, but then you can only beat what's in front of you. good to see giroud scoring his first, let's hope many more come this season

Comical Wenger on Arshavin:
on Arshavin's central role…
Arshavin's best position looks to be behind the striker now because that's where his vision, the creative side of his game, can be very efficient. When he has to work on the flank it is sometimes working against him because he has to work too hard up and down. But when he's central he always had an influence on the game.
He realized it two years late.
Fucking hell!!!!

God that pisses me off - I was one of the very few that used to defend arshavin on here cos everybody could see that the guy had genuine ability but was being played out of position

Some quality goals there, Wengers comments about Arshavin are pathetic, its all a bit late for that now.
Re: LEAGUE CUP V COVENTRY CITY
Was a good run out for the fringe players and youngsters last night. Competitive enough for an hour or so and had the chance to play in front of a decent size crowd
Highlight of the first half was the handbags fight that broke out in Block 2 - resembled the fight between Hugh Grant and Colin Firth in the Bridget Jones movie and made all the more amusing by the world's skinniest steward pulling them apart
I guess we'll now have to live with all this clamour for Walcott to be a central striker. Nobody can dispute the quality of the two finishes, but I thought he was shit until the final 30 mins when Coventry had fallen apart and were on their last legs. If he does that in a PL game, I might be more persuaded with this whole 'central striker' argument
Arshavin shows glimpses of why he's probably the second most naturally gifted player at the club but is such an irresponsible fucker in possession. The amount of times he gives it away with a sloppy pass or a flick or a backheel still makes him a liability in my book. Fat boy Santos just proved he is increasingly like the new Eboue - some sort of self-styled comedy figure who spends more time trying to take the piss out of opponents than doing anything constructive. He gets caught out of possession so often - I can't see him dislodging Gibbs any time soon and doubt Uncle Bouldie would trust him in a back four.
And Olivier Giroud - fucking cheer up sunshine ! Honestly pal, you make me look like a little sunbeam. FFS - when fans are chanting your name throughout the game and when you get taken off having been mostly fucking dire - again - at least raise your hand or give a smile. Miserable bastard. Walking round like he's got the whole world against him when he's just secured the biggest move in his career. Chamakh actually looked better when he came on
Loads of plusses too. Yennaris always impresses me when he gets a chance - a tenacious little bugger. Coquelin is really showing signs of blossoming into a decent player too. The midfield options seem to be thickening up. The young right back did well too and Gnabry showed a really promising 20 mins

Was it an anal "probe"?

Re: LEAGUE CUP V COVENTRY CITY
I knew that being probed wrong could lead to all sorts of STDs, but I didn't realise that it also led to the passing of MBS (Miserable Bastard Syndrome).
Not sure who passed it to who mind - Baba to Giroud, or the other way round ?

Sod the iPhone typo mate......I need you to confirm that you're only kidding when you say Giroud is proving you wrong. I'm pretty certain it was a sarcastic remark, but need to be certain because.......Babatunde wrote:LMFAO only just seen this! .....he was fucking shit last night. Tidy enough finish but lumbering around with the body language of a man who looks frightened, lost and bereft of all confidence. This despite the crowd giving him all the encouragement in the world.
I'll admit it - the guy has got me worried a bit now
