There's more chance of me having a go on Dani AND Kylie........

He has a 35m buyout clause. We got Ozil for 42m. We can get him if we don't faff around and let the chavs et al steal a march on us.
But we have Sonogo? why would Costa be third choice striker for us? :banghead: :banghead:

You posted on another thread asking why on earth Kroos would sign for united (fair point)

What on earth makes you think Costa would want to sign for us? He's at a team challenging for the title and still in the champions league. More importantly, even if we do meet the clause (unlikely) and he wants to leave Athletico then there will be other teams in for him as well

1) We're ourselves challenging for the title
2) MONEY (he's on humble wages at Atletico - they're skint)
3) London
4) Spain teammates Monreal and Cazorla
5) We're a far bigger club than Atletico

Sure other teams going for him is the biggest threat to us getting him, but most of them have their top strikers already. Who other than chavs really needs to get one?

Just rea some more of Hartson's analysis, quite surprised. Some of it is balanced and some of it a tad OTT

Well I admire your optimism and would love to sign him as well. Won't be holding my breath though

This - we really really miss the pace of walcott in Europe, even if he's not in on goal he makes them defend deeper or he's going to blast pass them.

I really didn't understand tonight why Ox or Gnabry didn't start further forward with Giroud.

well thats i lie, I do. its the same reason we start with both Caz and Ozil, or with Jack when his passing and confidence is off - Wenger's stubborness and or lack of flexibility.

Having a young quick striker (Anelka, Walcott, Ronaldo, Sturridge etc etc ) alongside an older more experienced CF has ALWAYS caused the opposition problems and immediately puts them on the back foot whether the kid can score or not - as a quick pass or hoof over the top and they're either in or setting up the finisher.

Add a midfielder with pace to that - Freddie, Overmars, Parlour, Pires etc etc and you also tie up one or two of their midfield, giving your lot space to pass and move quickly from interceptions, turned away free kicks, corners etc.

Thats how the great Dutch, French and early Wenger Arsenal sides played.

Because like last season Bayern were on a stroll in the park. They didnt have to break sweat the tie was won 3 weeks ago.Other than the Ox who really played well for us?Giroud and Ozil were dire.

So another early exit from the CL for the coach of the decade.Even Rafa won the CL

Missed the game tonight. Sounded like a not unpredictable 'brave' draw with defenders doing themselves great credit but ultimately never in any danger of progression. The all-time familiar faux fight-back after the game/tie has already been blown. We were never going to win tonight and if a few players can take confidence and experience from it and we've stayed injury free then meh

1989 - why do you think Athletico are skint ?

2nd in La Liga, through to the last 8 in the cash cow cup - surely we'll be selling to them next year ???

Obviously anyone who isn't insane knew we'd go out before tonight's game even started so I'm not gutted about the result ... but are the club ever going to have any intention of putting together a team that can actually win this fucking competition?

We easily have the resources, our team cost more than Bayern's team and the most expensive player on the pitch tonight was wearing a yellow shirt.

A lot of people still see the last several years as acceptable. It is even dressed up by many as some kind of overachievement  The reality is that it is failure being repeated over and over again by the same man doing the same thing over and over again :banghead:

I thought tonights performance was solid in comparison to recent away games. If we had someone on the pitch in the last 15 mins who could deliver a final pass, we would have created 2-3 very good goalscoring opportunities as bayern were very slack and tired. After we scored rosicky had three great opportunities to make that killer pass, on each occasion he made the wrong decision and it cost us.

My main concern is that when we get to this stage of the competition we never have our best players fit to play. Go back over the last 4-5 seasons when we played barca x 2, milan and bayern x 2 we have always had 2-3 of our best players out injured. This season ramsey, walcott, wilshere and gibbs missing. Bayern on the other hand had a fully fit squad. I really can't remember a time we had every player fit and ready to play. In this particular competition you have to field your best eleven players to have a chance to win. It's so frustrating.
