Arsenal's Nicklas Bendtner in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt are in talks with the Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner over a possible £3m transfer.

The Bundesliga club said on its website that it had held "concluding talks" with the 25-year-old Dane and his agents on Tuesday. Bendtner joined Arsenal eight years ago but has not played for them since August 2011, having been sent on season-long loans to Sunderland and Juventus.

Frankfurt added that their sporting director Bruno Hübner was in "close contact" with Arsène Wenger and a decision would be made "in the next couple of days".

Nicklas Bendtner's proposed transfer to Eintracht Frankfurt is in doubt after chairman Heribert Bruchhagen questioned whether the club could afford to sign him.

The Denmark striker has long been surplus to Arsenal's requirements and had appeared on the verge of a transfer to Germany after he travelled to the Commerzbank-Arena to discuss personal terms.

Bruchhagen has revealed, however, that Bendtner's wage demands have stalled any progress that was being made and that the 25-year-old's arrival now appears unlikely.

'After weighing up all the arguments, Bendtner turned out not to be a realistic prospect,' he told kicker.de.

'Now it's up to us. There are no problems with Arsenal. We have to see if it's financially viable.'

After failing to truly convince while on loan with Sunderland in 2011/2012, Bendtner spent last season at Serie A champions Juventus but failed to secure a permanent transfer having not scored a solitary goal.

Has to be more to Rooney coming home than officially meets the eye ..but I think if he leaves he is Chelsea bound, basing that on mathematics and who will pay him / United the most.
