But we're not after a first choice, as Van Persie (who cost something like £2-3m) has scored 30-odd goals in 2011.

You can't expect Wenger to sign a top quality striker of that level - and at the price you're quoting - to play backup to Van Persie.... we're not Citeh! :?

You're being totally unrealistic mate.
There is a middle ground though which Wenger is clearly avoiding.
My only point above was that it's unrealistic to expect us to sign a £25m striker to sit on the bench.

But yes, I totally agree, there is a middle ground.
The middle ground will be changing the system or either play RVP or the new striker on a wider role in a 4-3-3. 1st won't happen because Wenger won't change the system, 2nd one won't happen because that would mean we have to drop one out of Walcott and Gervinho.

In a 4-3-3 it is paramount that all of the front 3 contributes to the scoring. Gervinho have been piss poor in front of goal and Walcott though have done extremely well as a provider to RVP, himself haven't scored enough.

Remember, Zamore was booted out of Spuds for not being good enough.
Real sad times when I can see a piece of shit Spud like Jermain Defoe would waltz into this side and shit on those two wankers from France and Korea.
Why are ppl surprised Chamakh plays? HE IS FRENCH FFS! Like Diaby! And Song is from France too (though he represents Cameroon)!!!

Arsenal, ever the gallant losers.
'The future's bright'.

Seriously what the fuck has happened to this club? Wenger, that c**** has hoodwinked far too many folk and it's beyond ridiculous.

Two billionaires on our board and some are slating Citeh for 'buying all those players'. At least Citeh give their fans quality. Arsenal are cowards as they steal from their fans and give them shit on a stick like Park. And charge more than a Citeh ticket for it.

Also, what is this absolute blinding stuff I'm reading about 'a £20 mil striker would not come to sit on the bench'??!

This ain't Barca we are talking about, it's fucking Arsene Wanker FC. A £20 mil striker with quality would walk straight into this side. He wouldn't be RVP's understudy. Under a proper manager, knowing we struggle to even beat Fulham at home with RVP alone up top, a proper striker would play alongside RVP. And that would mean we could drop any of a number of useless mugs from our midfield. Take your pick from Arteta, Song, Diaby,etc....

Gervinho is the Ivorian Alex Hleb. Does a lot leading up to the nets but does fuck all in the end. £11 mil for that shit but guess what? Yup guessed it. He is also from the French league, so leave him alone!!!

Two points.

1.) The term 'like' Zamora means not Zamora but someone of similar ilk and experience in English Football, 200 words wasted by you because you can't understand basic English.

2.)Chamuck is not French, he's Moroccan.

Great game last night, reiterating what everyone has said Ox, Frim and Coq were great.

Expected a great loss, but Man City had to use their trump card to beat us. Can't help but feel we would've won had RVP came on for Chamack.

Loved how the boos affected Nasri :D

Bedford Gunner wrote:I reiterate what has already been said so far. I thought that Chamberlain, Frimpong and Coquelin were all excellent and hopefully look forward to seeing the likes of Wilshere and Frimpong playing week in week out for Arsenal and actually knowing what the club stands for.

But as for Chamakh and Park, they were awful. I really wish that we had made an attempt to sign Sturridge before Chelski got him. He is young, English, always looks a threat whenever I have seen him play and has already bagged 7 goals this year being an understudy to Torres and Drogba.

Another option that I know would be better than the two lumps up front tonight would be Shane Long. A great record in the Championship with pace to burn. Already got as many goals this season as Park, Chamakh and Gervinho put together despite being out for a number of weeks injured.

I know I'll still be expecting the January transfer window to pass us by.
Agree with all of this 100%. The three young lads you mention were all outstanding last night - up against international class players I thought their workrate, attitude and quality was fantastic. Did Owen Hargreaves actually touch the ball? Most of the time he was completely bypassed by the two kids in the centre, whilst the Ox is a breath of fresh air.

What a shame that the lumbering Moroccan and "super quality" Park were standing there in front of them.

If Wenger can't spot that the most urgent addition to the squad needs to be a decent, quick central striker then he's even more foolish than I thought. We are an RvP injury away from becoming a mid-table team again with Chamakh and Park. Personally I'd rather TH14 on loan than either of those two, or even Anelka if he really is to leave the Chavs.

Chamakh, Park and Arshavin can all go now as far as I'm concerned. Two of those three have had more than enough opportunities whilst Park just isn't up to the grade in terms of quality or physical attributes for this League.

I thought Benayoun was disappointing on the night too. But the youngsters were mostly outstanding

Given that we effectively lined up with a 4-4-2 against Citeh's 7-9-1 ( ) I too thought the young lads in the middle were outstanding for much of the game. Park and Chamakh-a-miss were abysmal. Kos was very good for most of it.

Why Wenger thought taking off our best player (Ox) and bring on the Lazy Russian was a good idea I'll never know. The Lazy Russian has not offered anything on the pitch for over a year now. Time to sell him the fuck out of it.

And why risk Tommy V so late on in a nothing competition? WTF? :?

Lets remind ourselves what our manager said in the first week of August, before deciding that the only strikers we needed to add to the squad were Campbell (who was duly packed off on loan along with Bendtner) and Monaco wonderboy Park.

“We work very hard, we are non-stop working throughout the summer. I am positive because we have good quality and a style of play that is known by the players. So we want to add not quality but super qualityâ€

Park needs service.
last night he didn't get it

not his fault - and he still had the best chance of the first half.

if anyone is to blame for last night (apart from Wenger) then it is Chamakh. I never want to see that fucking useless *word censored* play for Arsenal again

Well, we certainly agree on that point. But do you trust Lord Wenger to address the issue in january ?

if Wenger doesn't address the strking issue in January then this team has problems - we won't finish in the top 4 or win a cup

if that doesn't happen then both Wenger and RVP will probably both leave in May.

so it is not a question of will he, but rather he HAS to

Park is so light weight, I doubt hwe will make it in the Premier League, he was like a schoolboy last night. Chamakh looked disinterested at times. Ox , Frimpong and Coquelin were outstanding, with Kos not far behind. It's been said 1000 times on this thread but once again the lack of quality strikers is a worry.

Koscielny was my man of the match

he was unbelievable last night and kept us in the game.

the youngsters were good but I also thought Benayoun was very good - surely he should get more games in the first team?
