Nwaneri was without a doubt our best player today, well done to him. MLS was very good as well, he made a crucial clearance late in the second half to keep it at 0-0. Him & Nwaneri look like they came from the same mould. Class, the pair of them.
Calafiori played well when he came on. I liked how he took the ball off their player and barged him over (all good fun) too,

Merino getting on the end of those passes and crosses was excellent. That should give him confidence if he plays there in the next game.

Cmon Wolves. :barscarf:

Awful performance today against a terrible team that can't defend but Merino was an absolute game changer. His 2nd goal was the most impressive because he actually was waiting at the far post, like a striker would be. I expect the experiment with him will come crashing back to earth soon but I'm going to enjoy this win :barscarf:

Sterling very poor once again and appeared to be locking horns with Trossard for the offside donkey of the year award.

Edit: Well taken goals by Merino. Not sure his missus would take a brace over this vals day garbage

It's unreal how MLS and Nwaneri already look head and shoulders above players who have been in the first team for years- class the pair of them

Sterling on the other hand seems to be playing a one man game of "just how big a c.unt can I be" and in fairness just when you think it's impossible to take shitty c.untiness to new levels, he manages to do it. Just unbelievable how shit he actually is

Hope Van Horseface C.unt goes down with this shower of time wasters too, and Steptoe Jnr can retire as well the ugly looking prick

Could Nwaneri play on the left with Saka on the right in the future?
That'd be a serious threat from the wings

I know it would never happen with legohead picking the team, but surely Nwanieri would go into the 10 and captain invisible would either go to the right wing or into centre midfield or onto the bench ? If we are totally honest here, Nwanieri is bringing more creativity and attacking threat than the disappearing captain

Not for me Augie, he’s played in at 10 a few times and has been completely anonymous. He’s way more of a threat and comfortable out wide.

I had similar thoughts during the game about him playing on the left, what an upgrade on the hapless Martinelli that would be.

Im not sure on some of the narratives that legohead is a bit of a tactical genius for merino today.

From what i can see merino was thrown on out of pure desperation and arsenal won the game in spite of Arteta not because of him.

Arteta today got lucky - the question now is will Merino be kept in that position for the next match and Sterling relegated to the bench ?

As opposed to captain invisible ?? :rubchin: :rubchin: I dont deny that Nwanieri is doing better from right wing and am more than happy to leave him there, but what was being suggested was putting him onto the other wing as though he isnt a priority and imo he deserves more respect for what he is bringing to the team than his captain does. How about we compare premier league stats for the players concerned -

Martinelli 22 games 6 goals 3 assists
Nwanieri 15 games 3 goals 1 assist
Trossard 25 games 4 goals 5 assists
odeargod 17 games 2 goals 3 assists

Now lets be honest and look beyond just the numbers and acknowledge that (a) odeargod's appearances are nearly all starts plus (b) he is THE central figure in the team attacking, where as the others slated are by definition wing men and more peripheral and more dependent on others to get them into the games, and are often out of games if we are losing the midfield battle. At some stage there is gonna have to be a spotlight shone on how little the captain is bringing to this team, and stop with bollox excuses about having a baby

Obviously we were up against a dreadful Leicester side and I'm not suggesting Merino is a solution to our striking options, what I will say is he showed composure for both goals and particularly the second where he made sure to stay onside, so i'd have him ahead of sterling or a novice from the bench.

Out of curiosity if Havertz had been playing would he have
a. got into those positions for the goals
b. scored the first header
c. scored the second
d. fluffed both opportunities

I'm inclined to think that even if he got into those positions he'd have fluffed one if not both chances.

Both kids were our best players until Merino came on. And by a long way too.
Crucial clearance by MLS at nil nil

Is the website crawling for anyone else?
Yes mate... Slower than Sterling.
It must be slower than I thought, I said that fifteen minutes ago
It took 20 minutes for my post to land so Nyah! Nyah! Nyah! :D
