Got to the stage now ,where I start watching our games and if we go a goal down I change channels straight away cos I've absolutely no belief that we're going to come back and win the game. Our captain in the papers yesterday admitting he hasn't been good enough this season, and then goes and puts in another dreadful performance.
The clown who manages the club couldn't even find 1 attacking player in world football that could make our team better.

The worst utd side in living memory and we couldn't beat them . :cussing:
I feel the same. Was flicking between our game and the horse racing yesterday and turned it back on just as Rice scored and was like "meh". Even the missus said "why aren't you cheering". Just numb to it all. I only go to 2 or 3 games per season now and only then when it involves a good social with old mates. The majority of spazzes in the crowd froth my piss and the new superfans are on a different level.

The last 8 years of Wenger just about killed me off, coupled with the wig wearing c.unt and his faceless ownership. When we'd missed the CL for a few seasons it was obvious he shit his pants, especially when they thought the European Super League was going to be formed and we saw a flurry of investment before normal service has been resumed once that top 4 security has been restored. They picked a manager who is eternally grateful for the role, allowed to carry on with a vanity project like Wenger and won't rock the boat

It's a total shit show and I for one won't be going again this season. The football is as boring as the inevitable outcome of another trophyless season. We are currently amongst the most boring teams to watch in the league - would rather watch the likes of Bournemouth and even Fulham. That's how low we've sunk. Massive snoozefest and can't wait till it's over again

After we scored and Partey was subbed, it looks like Rice went back to 6, MLS in midfield and Tierney left back. A re-arrangement of the deck chairs basically which gifted this poor United team momentum. Surely Jorginho would’ve been a more sensible option. Our balance was shot to pieces and the game turned into a ridiculous end to end basketball game.

Did tierney not going left wing, trossard to centre forward, and merino back into midfield alongside rice ??
That's the way I saw it too, but tbh, the point is still relevant I think: he messed up the balance and we were worse for it. But as Nick Nack said above, his in game management has been mostly awful and certainly suspect at least from day one.

I'm sick of some of our fans - and I use that word loosely. When we beat PSV, the moronic Arteta song had to be sung as though we are being managed by a footballing savant. These same people will have watched the absolute cowardice and embarrassment that was yesterday and will have reached for the excuse book because their brains can't comprehend that this novice is out of his depth
We have alot of problems at the club bigger than the fans but the enabling of mediocrity is a huge issue that has allowed dross on the sideline and on the field to continue to stink up the place :banghead:

It really is a huge issue. It's clear that at other "big" clubs (in fact, most clubs tbh) the fans exert a lot of pressure on the board when a manager is underperforming, but we never really do. I realise that Wenger had a fair bit of credit in the bank, but fuck me, that should have run out by at least 2010, but he still held sway over a huge part of the support by the time he went in 2018.

It's admirable that we give managers a fair crack of the whip and aren't screaming for their head after a couple of poor results (see the scum), but there are limits and serious big clubs with ambition, both fans and the board, know when it's time to pull the trigger. Arteta has run his race. I keep saying it, but he peaked last year and while I'll give him credit for improving on the set up that he inherited, if he hangs around beyond the end of this season, then all his work will be undone. It's happening already.

Unfortunately, the majority of our supporters won't see it that way and our owners don't know enough (nor have the ambition to win trophies) to see it either. Most of you will probably remember the short lived Kroenke Out campaign a few years ago and there was a WhatsApp group of those of us involved. There's been no communication since that movement petered out with a whimper, but a couple of weeks ago one of the guys sent out a message that was just a picture of Stan. It prompted some conversation, but I was the only voice that felt it was time to move Arteta on. I got the usual bollocks about poor recruitment not being his fault (ffs), how he's improved us, how we've had bad refereeing decisions, 3 seasons in second place (assuming we do so this season) isn't failure and perhaps my expectations are too high, injuries (that's gonna be traded long and hard), that our CL group stage performance saw us in the top 3 in Europe ( )....all the bullshit we heard for years when Wenger was killing us.

I didn't know these people back then, so don't know when, if ever, some or all of them turned against the OF, but the group contains a number of bloggers and "influencers" and as devotedly Arsenal as they are (and nice people), they haven't all got a great grasp of what they're watching. They are, however, pretty representative of our support, so don't expect any serious anti Arteta sentiment anytime soon.

Unfortunately, if you settle for mediocrity and second best, then that's what you'll get.
Excellent post Retro. Nail on the head. Every word, mate. 8)

Interestingly I had a minor involvement with the Wenger Out campaign through being a mod on here and some of the pm messages I got from some of your colleagues in that group at that time made me wonder about when they finally went full WOB. Don't get me wrong, most of them seemed like good lads and many of them put in serious effort in that campaign, but let's just say it doesn't surprise me to hear from you that some (many?) of them defend Arteta. :|

Not sure how we are getting more heat than a team sitting in 14th with a negative goal difference after 28games and by all accounts have spent significantly more money than us. We’d be in United’s position if some had their wish.

Maybe because a team in second place should be expected to dominate a team in 15th place and blow them out of the water, and that never happened ?? Maybe when you have a manager still taking about his team competing for the title, then you expect his team to be full of drive and energy and confidence, and when you see none of those things then questions have to be asked ? Honestly if you watched that game Sunday and didnt know beforehand what positions the teams were in, then I suspect you would say afterwards that manure were the team chasing the scousers not us

Absolutely. We were lucky to get out of there with a draw. The only thing that stopped us losing 4-1 was a good save by Rayas and a couple of bad misses by their mong players. :|

We looked like a team going through the motions. A team of demotivated players that know they are not good enough, managed by a dud manager that conversely doesn't know he's not good enough.

This is a long post, but thought DB and maybe others might be interested.

The two groups are were entirely different tbh DB and the Kroenke out group only had me and one other guy from the Wenger Out group on it. He did/does have an account on here and made a couple of posts leading up to the Wenger protests, but doesn’t post as a rule.

The Wenger Out boys had all been convinced for a long time that he should go and were working as one, with ideas for protests being pitched in and the movement being coordinated by 2 or 3 of the guys. Reno (existential as was) was instrumental and put a great deal of time, effort and no little expense into the venture. It could have made a more immediate impact if the brain dead in the stadium had got behind it, but Wenger had been canonised by a significant percentage, probably still the majority at that stage. We’ll never know if it influenced the Kroenkes at all, but it must have been something of a catalyst for the doubts.

The Kroenke Out campaign was a very different animal. Rather than the grass roots “activists” of the Wenger effort, which was largely initiated and gathered pace on this forum, it was a coming together of influential voices….well known bloggers and the type with online presence and supporters club groups, notably the AST who took the lead, or tried to. From memory, there were very few of who were just regular supporters, maybe 4 or 5 of us. To be honest, too many cooks, too many vested interests and too many egos. The supporters clubs were wary of queering the pitch with the club, although in all fairness, the AST overcame their early reticence and agreed to the more militant action that was being touted. I suspect they knew it would happen with their support or not. The bloggers etc were a mixed bag in terms of militancy.

It got off to a flying start, with the social media posts getting lots of support, but as usual, when the chips were down and we wanted supporter action in the stadium where cameras would see it, our usual supine support offered fuck all. The initiative petered out.

It is this group of people that are currently not anti Arteta. I suspect they wouldn’t have come together to be anti Wenger either. They were prepared to target Kroenke, as was I and the other regular guys on the group, but I doubt they’d have targeted anyone else. They are all absolutely fervently Arsenal, but like a handful on here, the red and white spectacles are so firmly adhered that they can be incapable of objective assessment and any questioning of players or manager is at best rejected or at worst seen as some kind of treachery. For me, that’s both counter intuitive and counter productive. I’m aware that I can come across as negative, but I so desperately want our club to be world beaters, that I can’t delude myself when I see what, in my opinion, are glaring deficiencies. While we’ve had some decent periods, I’ve waited my entire life to see us be the top side for a prolonged period…as Utd and Liverpool have previously….I won’t include City, or the Chavs because the success was bought. We ought to have had a period or periods of proper domination, but a general lack of ambition and investment has always seen us fall short. The 1930s must have been great.

If this gets spotted, I’ll probably be drummed out of the group.

Even at the height of our dominance under Wenger, we never blew them away and had a pretty poor record there before Arteta.

That’s a pretty disingenuous comment General. When we were at the height of our powers under Wenger, they were at an even greater height of power under Ferguson. When’s the last time we played them when we were 2nd and them 14th?

Applying the whataboutery in your first paragraph, we ought to be nailed on to win at Anfield. Not sure how many of us can see that happening, although by the 10th May, the scousers will have been champions for so long that they’ll be properly on the beach.

Have you looked closely at our league record at Old Trafford for the last 20years by any chance? I recall losing 6-1 there around 2001 and who can forget the 8-2 disaster in 2011 which should've led to Wenger's beheading. Until Arteta, we hadn't won there in the league for 14years. It’s a pretty wretched record which created psychological cloud over any team we took there regardless of what shape they were in. Despite their lowly league position, it's obvious they deploy tactics that’s occasionally succeeded against superior teams this season hence the draw against Liverpool. Not sure how you interpret this as us winning at Anfield. By your logic, shouldn't Liverpool have dispatched them with ease at Anfield? But I get it, when you're drowning in misery, self entitlement and uncontrollably jerk the knee like some of you do, you see everything as negative. I’m doing this again. I’m out

You love revisionism when it suits you and you do the same with Emery. Where was the club when Graham was sacked? His fate may have been sealed by the bung scandal but he was a dead man walking long before playing awful football and don't be mistaken we paid some of the highest wages back then. The problem with your theory is Fergie left in 2013. That's 12years ago and they haven't been a top team since.
