Coquelin and Frimpong compliment each other really well. Frimpong does the rough stuff, Coquelin the cleaning up and breaking up play. Coquelin's passing is also top draw. He's really exciting as a player.

I thought everyone was good apart from our front two, which was what cost us. Had we had a decent striker up front we would have won that game. I agree that we need someone like a Long or even a Zamora. Someone who might not be first choice, but in games like this can come on and do a job.

Anyway, wasn't too dissapointed as for once we actually looked competetive in a game like this.

so it is not a question of will he, but rather he HAS to
so now we aren't going to finish in the top 4. after ages of telling us we definitley were :awnker:

I didn't say that we wouldn't finish in the top 4, its just that the striker issue is more serious than I thought.

it is up to Wenger to resolve this which I am sure he will do. That is why he is the manager

Basically, the tragic individual behind the 'Red Member' username decided that instead of going for the traditional AW-bashing route, he'd opt for an attempted 'sly' u-turn over time, as if the change of heart would have more of an impact and reveal that rosetinters are slowly coming around to the 'anti-AW' way of thinking.

Sadly, what he's attempting is so blindingly obvious and poorly executed (not to mention ludicrously swift; have you no patience lad), and thus he's been shown up for the sad, attention-seeking disaster that he truly is.

US Martin + Babatunde + Red Member = same person. Anyone who doesn't realise this deserves all the WUM'ing they get.

I thought Park was OK just a few posts back but simply not getting the service - make your mind up.

Given that Ox, Coq and Pong (our new trio that sound like an awful soup gone wrong) were the 3 best players I would have thought that was a sign that the service was good.

The fact is that Park is a lightweight little boy, that might well look OK prancing around in the lower reaches of Ligue 1 and bashing the likes of Kuwait in World Cup qualifiers....but against any PL defender of note he is simply going to be brushed aside.

Still, as I said, the GIC told us all on 6th August that we would only look to add "super quality" so I look forward to the Korean's 20 goals a season

And you discovered this last night?

PL this season:

RvP 13
Arteta 2
Gervinho 2
Vermaelen 2
Walcott 2
Arshavin 1
Chamakh 1
Ramsey 1
Santos 1
Song 1

I didn't think the striker issue was serious at all

Steveo

fair enough - I have been a bit contradictory about Park this morning.

I think Wenger needs to work out how to use him best. he is still a better option than the moroccan but he does appear to be struggling to adapt to the game over here

BringbackPires

not sure what you are on about, I am not changing my opinions at all
Wenger is still the best option as manager
I am still confident we will finish top 4
I still think we have a good chance of winning the CL

Its just that last night wasn't one of Wenger's better nights and deserves to be criticised

yes last night because it was one of the first few opportunities for the back up strikers to show what they could do - and as it turned out they did very little

When chamakh first joined us - he went straight(ooooo errr missus) into the 1st team - RVP was injured...and he did well....seemed to get stronger with each game/week etc until Rockin' Robin came back...and since then he has played bit parts in the Arsenal set-up and just gradually gets worse and worse, to the point where it is plain to see he wants "Out"...he should be off-loaded when/if an y offer comes in for him....which is a pity as we waited a whole 12 months to sign him - as |AW didn't want to spend any dosh to sign him....I hate to admit this but I think I would prefer to have bendybollocks on the bench than chamakh

players that need to be off-loaded asap:

Chamakh
Arshavin
Squiilacci
Almunia (now there's a surprise!)
Diaby
and maybe Gibbs

Chamakh has started 32 games and made 23 sub appearances since he joined. Admittedly, he had a bit of a purple patch when he joined but since then he has been pony in every game he appeared in :banghead:

Ju Young Park doesn't look the part for me either, although I hope I'm wrong because I'd love if we could get Too Much, Too Young by The Specials altered to suit his name as his song  The way he went at the chance in the first half was laughable, he didn't know whether to hit it with his left or right foot. Something pretty basic for a striker I'd say.
