Re: Schalke Away match thread
well, we didn't lose 3 or 4 nil.
i thought we'd draw or sneak it - and i'm pleased for Giroud, another goal for him which is 4 in 7 now. 3 with his head, all in or around the six yard box. plus the goal for france. Nice to see the cross was from Pod too.
i guess that's all we can take from this

Re: Schalke Away match thread
Fucking embarrassing that he spent the whole game bollocking the 4th official (as on Saturday) whilst we were getting outplayed instead of doing something about it.g88ner wrote:I'd genuinely like the reporters to ask him, because he seems more interested in bitching and moaning at the 4th official than the game itself.SteveO 35 wrote:What does he possibly think it achieves shouting at a bloke with no influence on the decisions?
It's pathetic.
Surely he should be busy analysing the game or something?although it does explain why he makes poor tactical decisions and pre-planned substitutions... he's not paying full attention to the game!

Wouldn't worry probably some loser trying to stir up a fuss over nothing.Tomáš wrote:Hi, I think it was an Internet Fake so sorrytopgoon wrote:We got a draw we deserved to lose even with our ace striker Walnutt, so I hope what you'resaying means nothing as we deserved nowt from that game and wouldn't want to get anything from a game because of a clerical error.Tomáš wrote:nope...23:11:54CET looks like they have changed it afterwards...topgoon wrote:Tomáš wrote:You will win on the green table...

Re: Schalke Away match thread
Our best performer over the course of the last two games is quite probably Mannone. Jesus Christ that's depressing.
Re: Schalke Away match thread
Maybe I'm on my own on this but I can't see what wrong our BFG is doing this season.
He seems to be our most consistent performer and I think without him the last few games, we would have conceded a lot more.

Second game in a row I am underwhelmed.
Not a lot of creativity, but Walcott looks sharper than in previous seasons and a well taken goal, even if he perhaps snatched at it in the last minute.
Time to give Cazorla a game off, he looks jaded?
Pair up Coquelin and Arteta and give Wilshere a go in the position his shirt number hints at?

Utter shite again tonight .Arsole reckons it was a good response though
I despise that fucker i really do.

Re: Schalke Away match thread
I was happy to see Giroud get one, I have faith in the lad. I know I'm in the minority on that one but I'll stick by it for now. the rest of the performance was really just "blah" to me. I'm not happy with the overall result but I cant say it shocked me.

We were lucky that schalke backed off a bit at 2-2. They could have won that easily but a draw is a decent enough result, would have taken that before the game.

Re: Schalke Away match thread
TBH the way we are playing I'd probably have taken the draw before the game but to fuck away a 2 goal lead is deppressing. Tommy V is way off form overall, Wenger needs to man-up and fucking drop him, Captain or not.
Feo Feo did well to score a poachers goal to be fair, but otherwise he was very poor last night and not passing to Giroud for a tap-in right at the death again demonstrates Feo's inate ability to nearly always make the wrong choice when he has a second to think about what he should do...
Mannone did well with a couple of good stops. Carzola looks knackered, as does The Pod. Sagna was more like his old self last night and that was good to see. Giroud did brilliantly for his goal, totally caught their defence off guard and followed in for a ball that the Forehead would have just stood looking at on the 18 yard line. I do still think Giroud will come good to some useful level and hit 15+ PL goals for us which would be very acceptable I think in his first season in the PL.
I know we've all lambasted the stupid fucking zonal marking to death on here but one more thing I've noticed in the last few games in particular is what happens when we shift into the 2nd phase of play after an oppo set piece. We start off zonal for the set piece, either concede a goal or somehow scramble it clear and then if the second ball falls back to the oppo outside the box (effectively setting them up for another set-piece type attack) we don't persist with zonal we just go into a kind of panicky state of utter confusion with players running around like a rapist in a nunnery. This more than anything else says to me Bouldy has absolutely fuck all input at the moment and Arsene is dictating our defensive "style". I simply cannot believe a man with Bouldy's years of defensive experience would allow this either by choice or oversight.
People point to our better defensive stats this season but I have a feeling we will be well up towards last years tally of conceded goals before the end of this season...
Unpracticed and badly executed Zonal followed by panic. Fantastic.

Re: Schalke Away match thread
The team we put out last night looked excellent......on paper. Keeper and left back aside, I don't think it's far short of our current best 11.
The actual performances are a different story. We all have players we favor but Sagna was poor and I don't know what's up with Vermaelen at the moment - this coming from two of our apparent "best players".
Wenger takes a lot of the blame but you can't get away from the fact that these players aren't all pulling their weight. A few of the players ahve come back from injury etc but at one point or another you have to look at the actual team and point the finger.

Re: Schalke Away match thread
but these types of performances are not a new thing are they? So why does Wenger persevere (sp) with these players and how long til bad form actually show bad ability and they are performing to their actual standard? He bought these players, he sends them out with a style of play, he doesnt change them when they arent performing well it all comes back to him!!kiwomya wrote:The team we put out last night looked excellent......on paper. I see your point, mate - but isn’t that a bit like closing the gate after the horse has bolted?kiwomya wrote:The team we put out last night looked excellent......on paper. Keeper and left back aside, I don't think it's far short of our current best 11.

Yes they are poor on the pitch and underperforming. But who puts those underperforming players on the pitch? Who persists with them year after year? Who gives them improved contracts and pay rises despite them underperforming? Yes the players are partly to blame but the majority of the blame must fall with the manager that selects them and also fails to motivate/inspire/direct them.
