City match thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Some of this is correct. I never saw us getting a point from this game, the boys did brilliant. But why are so many of our injuries so long term :? Sanogo off the bench is down to Wenger buying total crap.
"Sanogo can make a huge contribution for the rest of the season because he hasn't played many games," Wenger said.

"He played a part in my decision not to sign a striker."

Nice one Arsene

Fuck off, Wenger, you complete incompetent imbecile. If that's part of the reason why he didn't sign another striker and he seriously believed that a man who was ready to become a postman because he couldn't get a game of football anywhere was going to score the goals to win the league, then he should be forced to resign on the spot. It's another horrifically negligent, idiotic act from Wenger. Just go.

city were pissing about with us in the first half, they came knowing a point was good enough, had they needed a win they would have hands down,we were lucky that they sat back to a certain extent, had yaya been told to raid forward instead of just holding we'd have been in big trouble.yes it was a good point, especially considering the injuries but city were minus aguero, had both sides played their first choice 11 we'd have been blown away as per.as for giroud what is the fucking point,we have now played 2 seasons with just 10 men,hes gotta go

At the beginning of the season I reckon 90% of gooners would have taken 4th and the FA cup.

We're right on track in my opinion, I think people need to calm down.

We have not won the FA Cup yet and with Wenger at the pointy end, we may well fuck it up!

You're mistaking "would have taken 4th" with "resigned to finishing 4th". It's not the same thing.

The FA Cup would be nice though. Nearly a decade without a trophy is ridiculous for a club the size of Arsenal.

We may do. But we're on track.

I know most of you guys on here expect us to have won it already but remember we cant possibly win it till may 17th.

Its like the majority of gooners on here wake up every morning wondering why another trophyless day has gone by.

We're right on the same track we've been for years - good enough to scrape 4th. The only thing that has changed this year is the fixture list so we got our points in the bag earlier. Some people's outlook on tiny incremental 'progress' is ridiculous. Whilst we congratulate ourselves on perhaps a tiny nominal improvement Liverpool have shown a massive improvement in one season to leapfrog us. Chelsea have shown a bigger improvement this season than we have, look at City's progress from 2010/11 to 2011/12 where they improved 18 points to go from a distant 3rd to champions. And before you throw the sugardaddy excuse in there the last two cases the net spend wasn't that much more than ours this season. And look at the scale of United's demise in one season.

The league was really there for the taking this year. If United had been in the mix and our top 4 position looked in real threat you can bet your bottom dollar that Wenger would have signed a striker in Jan. But because they didn't suddenly our squad was good enough to win the league. Just like you can bet that if Villa weren't threatening us in Jan 2009 we would have heard the same and Arshavin would never have been signed. It's lie after lie after lie.

How many times have we heard stuff like "if Wenger had money to spend it would be different", or "this will be the summer Wenger spends big and Arsenal will win the league"? Guess what, he was able to spend over £40m on one player and we didn't win the league, not even nearly. If you want to give him a pat on the back for spending £42.5m on a player in a position we didn't need and moving forward an inch I won't be joining you.
