I'm not sure whether buying Man United's defensive rejects has been that successful....

In that order of preference maybe. Yobo’s seemed a bit injury prone lately, he’s liable to have the odd Senderos moment & with the African Nations next year & Ghana one of the stronger contenders we’d maybe be missing him for a month or 2 come new year.

If Kolo stays that could mean us missing both 1st choice CB's.

Never seen him play so I cant vouch for him but pretty much all the top Italian teams (who tend to know a thing or 2 about defending) seem to rate him highly. Anyone seen him play?.

Now, now frank. Remember that English children cost too much, especially when they're over 10. Much cheaper to import from Africa.
True RaM, but Lescott cost £5million, Jagielka £4million and Tim Cahill £1.5 million, hardly world breaking record transfers fees, these eh?
This is true but then they were bought from the lower league at the time.

God forbid that happened now as the cries of them not being good enough for Arsenal would be deafening (with ref to Gary Cahill or David Wheater, both are the type of uncomprimising player that's been missing but because they play for a shit team then they would be shit here)

Alan Smith suggested Ryan Shawcross from Stoke. Young, tough, should develop still further and almost certainly affordable.
