Protest at Stoke game

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Find me 1 football manager that will come out and slag his own players off in the media.

They had a protest at Reading a few years back - the Pants Demonstration. Fans thought the team and manager had been crap all season so brought their kecks with them to the match and threw them on the pitch.

Just read this thread and I have to say its one of the most ridculous statements ive ever read!!! If you want to walk out, walk out - thats not the sort of supporter this club needs.

Yes, make your opinons known, yes accept if someone else's is different to your own - but we are Arsenal Supporters, we should support the team through thick and thin. I personally think a lot of players deserve some credit - Almunia, Denilson, Song Nasri, Bendtner, Van Persie and the like have all stepped up to the plate this season - yes we know we should have bought someone in to replace Flamini but thats gone now and the boys who have stepped up have, in my opnion, done everything they can for the club - whatever you think of their ability I have seen desire and commitment from them.

I say against Stoke we make it a cracking atmosphere, have some fun and farewell to another season.

I think the better idea is stay and tell individual players what you think of them. If everyone leaves the players will think its just a normal game.

Before the lap of honour is the same was walking out during the game, as I said if you want to leave, leave, I respect that - but I think the vast majority will stay and applaud the team for their efforts.

Yeah completely agree with that... Im 100% sure almost everybody will stay behind and applaud the team! its the right thing to do, and i firmly believe 95% of them deserve the recognition!

if you want to walk out donald then walk out, im not sure many others will be following you, i cant see a revolution forming here mate!

Agree with this totally.
Granted, we have fallen short this season and failed to strengthen the team where its badly needed but a protest seems like a ridiculous idea. Staying pissed off & upset can't help anyone.

I think now more than ever (and particularly after last night) Arsene & the board are aware of how disgruntled a lot of us are and here's hoping they take steps to begin to rectify the weaknesses in the team. 08-09 is basically behind us now so lets get behind Arsenal and push on into next season.

I will be at the game, i will be staying right till the end and I will be lending my support to the team.

Fuck em.

Where was the bus parade a few years back for our last trophy? I'm sure a fair few would have shown up at Islington Town Hall for that but was it beneath the club as it was just the FA Cup?

By the same token they shouldn't expect many to hang around after the match.

Ouch, but very true sadly. Villa capitulated.
Sorry but I don't suscribe to that at all, and to be honest I'm fed up hearin it Villa played out of their skin for the first two thirds of the season and won numerous games 1 nil and rode their luck into the bargain, resulting in numerous threads earlier this year on that very issue, but lacking experience then inevitably ran out of steam just as we did the year before!

We have had a disappointing and frustrating season but there is way too much negativity to the extent even when we do achieve somethin it's down to someone else bein more crap than we were, do you think ManUre fans are sayin that???

If L'pool hadn't drawn a shitload of games when they had the chance to show Utd a clean pair of heels or they hadn't failed to capitilise on Utd losing 3 in a row at a time which could've hardly been more critical then the Mancs would not be Champions!

The fact of the matter is this and there is no gettin away from it, we can not currently compete with any of the rest of the top 4 when it comes to transfers and wages, so the only way we stand a chance of success is to try and do it a different way which AW has and everybody knows this or should realise this, especially Gooners!

Now last year we came very very close to winnin the league and how momentous would that have been against Utd and the Chavs and all their financial power, even Stan Collymore who's hardly one of our favourites actually went out of his way on TalkShite to say that he considered AW to be a very unlucky manager!

And think about it how often when it really counts ie FA Cup final (Henchoz) Uefa Cup final (Nayim) Paris (Ref) 50th game (Riley) do we get the rub of the green - things that can turn tight games and seasons nearly always go against us???

AW has made mistakes he has admitted making mistakes, but when you have formulated a plan to succeed you can't give up every time you get a knock particularly when the plan itself requires patience due to the age of the players involved, but that youth and the experience they've gained in the past couple of years will serve the club for years to come and hopefully set the trend for the future!

I think that anyone who thinks that AW should go now needs a reality check about the standard of clubs we finished behind, and remember that he is with out a shadow of a doubt an extremely clever individual, who changed the face of the game in this country forever and when the rest caught up and overtook us purely down to spending money they don't have (which is a compliment in itself) he then tried to stay ahead again by going down the Ajax route!

I believe he will have learned a lot from his "failed experiment" but IMO it is still the direction in which we should be heading to keep the club competitive without bein Chavski, it's just all about getting the balance of the team right, but just as a thought look at Spain for the way a small but quick and skilful team can become world beaters!

Absolutely brilliant post, I agree with everything you've said there mate. Its about a football philosophy, its a long term goal, you can't just abandon it everytime there is a set back. I think some people would rather we were run like Newcastle or the spuds whereby we just sack the manager everytime we don't win every game 5-0, its fucking bollocks!

Top post, i have said time and time again on here that people dont seem to realise this is a club on a journey, sometimes its a roller coaster but we need to stick with it and in the end will be rewarded with the trophies!

I love the way Arsenal is run and wouldnt change it for the world!

I think someone said on here earlier about how keen people are to have a go at Chelsea buying the league but then say how they want us to spend 20 million here and 30 million there!! make your mind up!
