As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
RVP is not overrated at all imo. He is what he is. A great forward.
Most overrated has to be Theo.
Most UNDERRATED is Rosicky. Class class class out of this man everytime he's on the pitch, which unfortunatley is not as often as we would hope. Still though, I love his play.
On those Walcott/Dioaby stats, I would argue that Walcott's are probably sub appearences for 20 mins max where as Diabolical seems to start every fucking game.
On the full backs, they have seriously declined. Clichy said recently he hadnt recovered from his back injury nor adapted to the 4-3-3 system. I'd argue that both arent given much cover by the 'wingers' (if memory serves me well, Rosicky and Hleb would be a bit more helpful) but their inability to cross is shocking. Even their throw-ins seems to have gone down hill. I think its true that we clearly dont practice set pieces and our defending is a collective mess and lack of communication.
Which brings me onto TV5 - I would argue our goals conceeded is nearly entirely down to the ridiculous keeper situation and again, lack of communication.

spot on. my favourite arsenal player. quick thinking, precise passing, can tackle when needed and has great finishing and long shots. i think he'd be a starter at any team in the world, a shame he is never fit.

So all in all, its bloody mess. I miss Flamini.
Well said. Vermaelen and Gallas are 2 good defenders and even play well together but we dont defend as a team and some of that has to come down to Song, he is much improved but still not good enough and the keeper situation is a joke. We should have a top keeper at our club and its almost as important as getting a top defensive midfielder. If only Wenger would spend some money

But is he a GREAT centre forward/lone striker?? after all, that is his position this season - sorry, but for me Id still rather Drogba or Torres was leading the line for us.
And that's why I think RvP is a tad overrated in the media... he seems to now get lumped in with more established, natural strikers, whereas Van Persie is still adjusting and learning a new position. He's doing very well, and he's impressed me, but I'd like to think there's a lot more to come from him!
I should say again... just because I think he's a tad overrated, doesn't mean I don't highly rate him! blimey, I wish I hadn't mentioned his name now as even though he's one of my favourite players, it looks like I'm criticising the bloke which isn't the case!

Without a doubt, but...

He does? Cant say I've ever seen the media put him in the Torres/Drogba or even Rooney bracket myself! Have you been watching Number 5's podcast on ATVO again g88ner?

I think you should leave RvP alone and stop criticising!
Clichy. He has gone backwards since the Birmingham game in 2008.He is given a lot of slack by Gooners who want to believe he is better than Cashley. He aint. Time to give Gibbs a long run in the team
It has to be Walcott as some people seem to think he's on a par with Rooney and given what he has, or rather has not done in the 4 years he's been with us, I see that as conclusive.
Having said that if Walcott came from Albania he wouldn't get a fraction of the attention he does get, even in Albania.
Cliche wins the regression award- and I do wish he'd stop mouthing off in the papers after ever foul up and set of dropped points.
"We really have to learn the lesson....bla...bla....bla.." and he and the rest of 'em never do. Cue a repeat in the next game !

Ain't that the truth - he's been far more erratic than Diaby and yet he seems to be the darling of the Concrete Bowl
Really? As my mate hadareud would say, the statistics don't seem to support that assertion and show that even with all his injuries and lack of complete 90 minutes played, Theo has been more productive than Diaby.
Diaby: Appearances 111 Goals 13 Assists 7
Walcott: Appearances 131 Goals 20 Assists 17
did I hear my name?
Those stats include former clubs.
Their stats in the league would be more useful imo:
Diaby: 71 games (51 starts) - 9 goals, 4 assists
Walcott: 65 games (35 starts) - 7 goals, 7 assists
Overall (for Arsenal):
Diaby: 112 games (74 starts) - 13 goals, 7 assists
Walcott: 107 games (55 starts) - 15 goals, 15 assists
Everyone can draw their own conclusions from those stats, but I wouldn't say that Theo has been more productive than Diaby, given his position and that he's actually a forward. Yes, Diaby has played some games on the wing too, but that is hardly his natural position.

I agree with you on this one Augie on Song, his transformation from shitness to averageness was a fairly rapid one, the next step for him to above average or a class player will be much longer wait, that sadly, won't happen.
