Dear "realists"

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

What you fail to understand is that nothing would make us happier than our being wrong about this teams ability to go the whole way.
Where we benefit is that we get the whole experience of being a football supporter. We get the elation when we win and the despair when we lose. If your expecting a win all the time then you only ever really get the disappointment.

The original post is actually quite feckin' pathetic bearing in mind we COULD be 9 points behind again in about 3 weeks time. If we take 7 points from the Villa, Moan Ure and Chavski games, then come back and have a bit of a gloat but quite frankly, saying that before three games that could effectively break our challenge, on top of the injuries we have is stupid.
At the end of the day this squad was made on a real budget
No it wasn't. We don't pay much for players in transfer fees but we pay them them a fortune in wages, which is why we often attract youngsters ahead of the likes Of United and Chavski. Our wage bill is almost equal to Uniteds but we haven't bought any 20m+ players, they have several, what does that tell you? You're kidding yourself if you think Wenger has done what he's done on a shoestring - he's avoided the huge fees up front but prefers to pay them over time!
As much as I would love to see it, this team will not win the league, we don't have a good enough squad and neither do Man U.

Oh yes please do remind me when the last time daniel boateng, nordtveit, coquelin, sunu etc... played in the premiership was...

None of those players have been involved in any way with us qualifying for the champions league the past few seasons, and none of them contributed to our champions league challenge last season and reaching the semi final. None of them have contributed to us being top of the league now. If you want to assess what 'Wenger has done' as you say, then assess it on the players that have been used regularly and part of the first team.
I'm talking about the first teamers, and they certainly were bought on a shoestring budget (with a few exceptions), and paying the reserves or the youths shit loads is irrelevant to that.

MM99, he was referring to young players like Walcot, Denilson, Bendtner who are on very good wages for their age

I think we all moan about the various football pundits on TV, Radio and in the papers but if you average out their opinions, on most things you probably get to some sort of objective assessment.

What I get about us from this "general view" is that our squad is lacking in some key areas, up front and defensive mid-field. I hear that Wenger hasn't bought enough players. I hear that our team is skillfil, creative but too young and too lightweight to win anything.

But...I think that if we did win the EPL or CL I'd be hearing that Wenger has worked a miracle to do so whilst making money, rarher than spending money, in the transfer market.

Where we are now means that it is a possibility. I think the bookies odds are about right, having the Chavs and Moaners ahead of us. But our odds are shortening ...it could happen.

It looks like wenger performing a miracle has become more important than actually making a genuine effort to buy in the necessary quality to compliment what we already have and greatly increase our chances of winning something. Never mind I suppose at the end of the season we will all be able to sit back and listen to the glowing tributes of what wenger has done with this young squad without spending money instead of focusing on what could have been
