Oh no, I was just merely pointing out that he only got 20 minutes vs. Honduras. And maybe I was just being a little hasty.

But I feel it will take a while to forget about the whole Cesc situation we've seen so far this summer.

It's just INSANE that he starts on the bench for Spain. Surely he would realise that this would be the same case if he went to Barca, unless Xavi/Iniesta got seriously injured.

I think there's an element of bias towards players who play in La Liga in the Spain set up. The press and the managers are more likely to pick older and Spain based players.

If Cesc goes to Barca he will start, and then he will start for Spain.

Really, he doesn't seem to have any problem picking Torres....

Managers are not stupid they pick whoever they think will do the best job for them it doesn't matter where they play..

Cesc is unlucky, he is with a team with exceptional midfield talent and is even more unlucky because the manager chooses to go with two defensive midfielders, which gives the manager less options to where he can fit Cesc in..
I don't know why people get so up tight about this issue he's up against the best ball player in the world in Xavi and one of the three or four best midfielders in the world in Iniesta, it's no insult or disgrace that he is having to wait his turn, why people have to think up excuses for them being preferred to him is beyond me...

Maybe. But he will have to perform every week, to keep ahead of Iniesta/Xavi/Busquets/Pedro/Yaya/etc.

Fuck that pressure.

DB10 has said a lot already that says what i have to say (good work ex-boss  ). But brady at the time was in a different level...he also got to three fa cup finals in a row....Brady was, and, is Arsenal through and through...he truely loves our club, can the same be said for fabregas?

I have to agree that fabs will struggle to get into the barca first team next year. They would have to change their whole strategy to accomodate him, or play iniesta or xavi or himself in a position none of them want to play in....i just cant see it happening. I wish him the best but I have to point out again, cesc has had great moments at the club, but not great times.

On my point about me judging him on his acheivements. I have posted many a time on this subject and would be repeating myself, but i did have a post on him being overrated do a search on it and my main points are there.

....again before the rants, Id love him to stay hes our best player but if he leaves now....he will never go down as a great in the history of our club.

Well bren, I remember your overrated thread, and as with your arguments here, they are so full of holes, you could really support Switzerland with them, so I'm with you and won't go over old ground with this.

With you maybe. There are a lot of of us that will think of him as an Arsenal great.

So much self congratulating that Cesc isn't good enough to get into the Spain or Barcelona teams. He's on a completely different plateau to every player we have (yes, he shits on even Arshavin, Van Persie and Vermaelen). If he leaves us, we're a weaker team straight away. Look what happens when you take the midfield fulcrum out of a side:

Regardless of whether we sign Gourcuff, promote Nasri, let Diaby play in his "favourite" position, we will be weaker without Fabregas. Saying "He's shit, he can't get in the best side in the world" is sour grapes.

He may not be going regardless, just seen this on Twitter via Youngguns

Barcelona have agreed a €20million fee with Valencia for Juan Mata to replace New York bound Thierry Henry. No money for Cesc left.

Just seen the highlights of the 3-2 comeback vs Bolton from 2008. Look at Cesc after his goal, can you really be mad about someone so passionate?

Looking at the whole situation we are in with Cesc, it must be said that the loss to us, would be greater than a gain to them(Barca), if you could put it in playing/financial terms.

That only means that our evaluation of Cesc would be much greater than theirs. If I were AFC, I would make them pay my fee, or else they can sod off. Cesc is in my opinion a true professional and he won't be the sulky pr!ck everyone thinks he will be next season if he stays here.

Cesc, I feel, is like most Spanish people I know, they passionate at what they do and will do their best to help you.

That said, I feel that this was Cescs "step up" year. I don't know how I seem to be the only one to see it, but he is the best AM at the moment. I feel he is better than Xavi, because he does the pretty and accurate passing game Xavi does at Barca(without good midfield backup), then does the defending when needed in midfield which Xavi doesn't have to do and then he get himself into goal scoring positions in the box when the ball is played out wide, which Xavi doesn't do.

One thing I must say.....I felt sad when Henry and Vieira left the club, but I knew there would be average backup for them, but when Cesc leaves.....that will be a sad day for me.

So let's hope he stays at least another year......'cos then he'll be worth 100K :barscarf: :barscarf: :barscarf:

Personally after watching henry in that token last season gesture I am no longer sure that keeping cesc is the way to go. If he expressed a strong will to go to barca this summer then we should get together and agree an acceptable price (we are taking the piss looking for £80m though) of 40m or over. If they refuse to go that high then it looks like we will be stuck with an unsettled player and to my mind he either stays or goes but no more of this "just give us one more season" bollox :x

The bbc blog above is good it comes down to hard cash. We don't need the money as much as we need the player so if they really want him they need to pay a price that will allow us to buy a similarly marquee player.

This world cup will allow Cecs to get a few things straight in his mind. There is a good chance that where he is with Spain is where he'll be with Barca: on the bench. yes he might pick up some winners medals, maybe even the big one in the CL, be he can't say he's won trophies when his contribution is the occaisional 20 minutes at the end of won games or starts against the weaker teams.

With us he will still be the centre of everything, the captain and the leader. If we win anything he'll be picking up that trophy.
