Spurs Bid £38m for player?

Right from a footballing point of view (not the spurs-hating, Beer-swelling bias See You Next Tuesday I am), Why are they buying more fucking strikers.

To put it into perspective they've just conceded 4 goals against a very negative and average Sparky inspired Fulham team. Kaboul and King are crocked and assou-ekotto is a waste of space as a footballer. Maybe a defender for £38million or 2 would be more benefical.
Spurs have 4 strikers and they're all shite. They've now loaned Keane out so they're down to 3. They desperately need a decent striker if they've any hopes of finishing top 4 this season.

As for defenders, they have about 7 CB's and they've just signed another one this month. They could do with more quality but they have enough numbers back there.

They're crying out for a top class striker. Hope they don't get 1.

Same old story...

Twice a year, when the transfer window opens, Sp*ds act like if they were Real Madrid and tries to sign the biggest names on the market. Twice a year, when the transfer window closes, Sp*ds end up humiliated as none of their primary targets agrees to sign for a simply average club.

Money ??? Arsenal ????

Post by Herd »

No person has put money into the club out of their own pockets in my living memory although the Old Man Dennis Hillwood used to claim he did.
Hillwood may have claimed he put money in but those days football was a good paper tax loss dodge and a very large cash cow !
Many of you who are over 40 will remember games even as late as the 80's when low crowds were recorded even thought the place was heaving.
Thus it is said ,a considerable slush fund was always there for whenever it was needed by the Owners and it was further suspected that a large slice was taken by the poorly paid Friar who according to reports also cashed in on any cup finals with his voucher scams and dealings with ticket touts .............allegedly ! ! !

Lets ignore the fact that the scum are ambitious, trying to improve themselves and are willing to spend the money on quality players and lets instead focus on the fact that we are higher in the league table and that they need defenders, that they will soon have the need to build a new stadium or just that they are scum.......anything to focus away from the fact that we are run like a mid table club and will soon be left in their wake  Why do Gooners feel this automatic right that we will always be better than the scum ? :? Yes history suggests that we are but history also suggests that the scousers are the top club in england and we know that to be no longer the case

It may not suit ye to agree or even read them but this is what usmartin's posts have mostly been directed at........we have a board that have absolutely zero ambition in making the playing side of this club as successful as it used to be  Where I totally disgree with martin though is that wenger is also very much to blame in that there is money there to spend and he simply will not do it and because of this the board should be putting him under more pressure. I have also long since pointed to the fact that our board has never (or at least for the past few decades) used their own money to make this club successful unlike our rivals down through the years (moore's at scouseland for starters) and are happy enough to plod along safe in the knowledge that the value of their investments continues to grow with every new posting of club accounts

Kudo's to the scum for seeing a top class player and pushing the boat out to try and sign him.......more than the *word censored* running our club (inc wenger) will ever do :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

There is money available to Wenger but he simply doesn't choose to use it. It's as simple as that.

With the way the modern (global) game has changed with Billionaire owners etc...Wenger is committed to the project or part 2 of the project!
Now this isn't the usual bringing youngsters through, make them stars and and sale them on. That still continues to a degress but part 2 is here and now.
Wenger is hell bent on proving to the world that you can win things without having to spend millions. In Wengers case peanuts!

All the youth & academy players are now in or at least near the first team. Sprinkled with a few other players and Wenger has the 'perfect' team to give a two finger salute to the rest of the world......Providing we win anything!

If anything the board are not totally to blame as AW has brain washed them into his thinking. The fact that Wenger is choosing this route is fantastic sound bites to use whilst paying off the loan.

“It is so much more satisfying to build something – to get boys of 15 to 18 and see them develop sufficiently well to win the Premier League or other trophies – rather than sitting there and saying, ‘I want to buy the best striker in the world and I don’t care what it costs’.

“A, it is not something we could possibly do and B, even if we could, I wouldn’t want to do it.â€

They have Modric, van der Vaart and Pienaar. Why would they sign another similar-type midfielder (for that money)? :rubchin:

Propaganda for their fans. deal was never goin to happen so the bid is a joke. They are making bids for players they know would never come. Ask yourself why they dint put in a bid for a similar and cheaper player in Suarez.

Liverpool bidding £30m pound for Andy Carrol.

And it was rejected. Laughable from both clubs really.

Still embarrassing though we don't spend more than 10m or anything on a a CB..

Ok so you have £30 million pounds to spend on a player.

1)Who would you buy for Arsenal?

2)How much do you think you would have to pay on wages a week?

3)How much do you think his wages would increase on the wage structure of the club eg pay increases for players renegotiating contracts in the coming 6 to 12 months?

4)what positive/negative effects would this have on a) the team and b) the player or players he is replasing?

5)Would Arsenal have to change anything about the formation they play to fit the player?

Being an arsenal fan during the transfer window is like being a kid at school in Detention watching all the other kids playing outside!
