Shirt TRADITION broken

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm sick sore and tired of coming on here and reading arsenal 'fans' berating our players. so what if eboue has a tendency to fall over...previous posters were spot on...pires used to do it all the time. as did freddie, as, at times did vieira. noone berated them. personally i think eboue is a very good option for us. he is direct, quick and powerful, a traditional runner. when you've got people like hleb and fab in the team, sometimes its good to have someone who can drive the midfield, and i think eboue does a decent job at it. I'll admit, he's not my fave player in the world, but i'll back him up, just as i would any arsenal player because...they're ours.

at the end of the day, all those fools who doubted hleb are now crawling out of the woodwork and saying 'no, i always rated him' (whatever), so don't be fooled on eboue either. he's young and learning, and will make mistakes, but for god sake, get behind him. arsenal will not play better by you lot having a petty go at certain players.

end of rant!

I agree with you about getting behind our players but Eboue has to earn that right for me, he's not entitled to it. Every single player has dabbled in at least a little simulation at one time or another, but Eboue is fast becoming known more for his diving/overacting skills than his footballing skill - and that is embarrassing.

As far as Bob and the others you mentioned, I agree they too took a few easy tumbles but I would argue that they at least did it occasionally and for the benefit of the team (not an excuse, just a reason). But Eboue seems to go over way too often (and too easily) for someone of his build and strength and it seems to me that it's all about how hurt he feels, it's all about him and f*ck his teammates. Most of his dives are so obvious too that it is stomach turning to see a grown man act like that.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, I actually rate him as a fast, skilful player, but he seems to be looking for the dive/cheat at every oportunity instead of concentrating on his footy. Which is a real shame.

I personally stand by what I wrote; if he doesn't stop diving/acting/cheating then we should offload him as he offers the team nothing with that carry on...

I NOT GOING TO GO INTO THE WHOLE 'EVERYONE IS ENTITLED TO AN OPINION, EVEN IF IT IS CRITICAL OF ARSENAL' DEBATE AGAIN BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN DONE TO DEATH!! HOWEVER, IN ESSENCE I AGREE TOTALLY WITH DB10.

ANOTHER THING THAT PISSES ME OFF ABOUT EBOUE IS THAT HE ALWAYS PULLS OUT OF ANYTHING REMOTELY APPROACHING A 50/50 CHALLENGE!! :x ! I WOULDN'T MIND IF HE WAS BUILT LIKE HLEB OR TOMMY BUT THE GUY HAS A GOT A SOLID BODY AND POWERFUL LEGS, YET DOESN'T LIKE TO GET INVOLVED IN ANY PHYSICAL STUFF!! :x

OH, AND WHILE I'M AT IT, HE HARDLY EVER BOTHERS TO TRACK BACK AND HELP SAGNA WITH ANY REAL DETERMINATION - HE JUST SLOWLY AMBLES BACK WITH AN ANGUISHED LOOK ON HIS FACE BECAUSE IT APPEARS TOO MUCH OF AN EFFORT!!

FINALLY - AS I'M ON A ROLL HERE - AS SOMEONE ONCE FAMOUSLY SAID: EBOUE CAN'T DEFEND!!!
