Lack of transfers

I imagine our business will be dictated by what happens to Cesc and Nasri, can see it dragging on all Summer in which time he will struggle for time or the right player like normal.

What is really pissing me off more than anything is the clubs relaxed manner and dithering to tie players down, we followed Jones and Varane for some time by all accounts but wait to bid for them until it looks like they are going to other clubs and it all looks a done deal, are we that arrogant to think that they would turn their backs on two ambitious teams that can match their ambitions by bidding at the last min?

Do they really thinking coming here is a pull over United or Madrid?

The timing is a joke, its like they know it won't be successful but bid anyway to say we tried.

But what is really getting on my nerves is the fact that we have been linked with Cahill and Samba since the end of the season and there is still no sign of a deal being done :banghead:
Ever occur to you that the club might not actually be looking to sign those players depiste what the tabloids/people forums say?
Ever occur to you that we need to strengten our team and should try and sign better players than we have as quickly as possible before other clubs get in there?
What's that got to do with it? Your original post was bemoaning us not signing Cahill and Samba despite being linked with them "since the end of the season" as you put it. My point is how do you even know if those are the players that Wenger wants to sign? For all we know it could all be tabloid speculation and that we were never in for them so it would be a bit stupid expecting those transfers to come through if we weren't even in for them in the first place...
Fair point. I don't know this. I wasn't really clear in the initial post but I was using those 2 as this years example even though I don't know for a fact that we are "chasing" them. What I was alludeing to was the fact that our signings seem (in my eyes) signed after a long drawn out process. Now, perhaps this is because I don't watch the others as closely but The Arsenal seem (again, in my opinion) to take longer to sign a player that other clubs, take the Arshavin deal for example.
No worries. I'll be just as pissed off as you are come the end of the transfer window if we haven't signed anyone mildly significant and got rid of some of our crap players. But in the meantime it would be sensible to not get caught up in the hype of the summer headlines that have us linked with anyone and everyone and just wait and see what happens come September.

I'm just as concerned that we won't GET RID of the dead wood! It's hard to see people wanting to pay more than fag papers and second hand chewing gum for the likes of Coco and Denilshit!!

I'd be more concerned if it was July 22nd, but with Europe's market not even being open yet, we're not yet behind the game.

TRANSFER NEWS ?

Post by Herd »

The problem I see is that we will sit on the fence for too long ,by which time the big boys will have broken all transfer records and the price of even 3rd division Frenchmen will rocket !

The other is we are bound to sell before we buy more than 1 player and i don't see a huge amount of interest coming in for the dross we have to sell.

But is that acceptable ? I mean we all know that we need centre backs and I would suggest we need a DM and if the money is there, which we are told it very much is, then these are issues which we should be adressing now before the transfer market heats up. If cesc and/or nasri leave then we can look at adressing that position if we feel there is a need to do so but in the meantime there is much work to do. I will also say again that I really fear that we will not get rid of the likes of bendtner, denilson, rosicky etc unless we give them away as raffle prizes so we cannot and should not depend on their sales to generate spending money

So the English Champions are today about to sign Ashley Young from Villa taking there spending to around 30m this summer already.
Here the team that finished 4th having collapsed big time (again) have spent jackshit on a player for the future.

Now we were told Wenger was going to be very busy this summer so wouldn't you think that with the cack that we have in our team there is a massive need for him to get his finger out of his arse.

I mean, where are the signings that get everyione off oftheir seat, the Campbells, Bergkamps signings..........................

And its mentioned here that the transfer window on the continent doesn't open till July 1st, but surely we've had our fill of foreign mercenaries at our club. We all know he need to buy some proven English talent just like the English Champions have done!!!!!

There is a real sense of deja vu here.

But that's because Manwho have bought British and we can't sign anyone from a European league until July 1st.

Next week might see the start of our summer signings when we can start signing from France, Italy and Spain.

Although, don't hold your breath.

There is nothing stopping them getting a deal done and just the registration left to fax to the FA the minute the window opens.

What like Gervinho?

Basically I think we probably have done some deals, but being Arsenal won't announce it until July starts.

No one told Gervinho though, hence all that stuff in the press last week, I would lay money on him being a signing for us next week.

Really lads - how long have some of you been supporting The Arse?

They have always done the deals behind closed doors. It's one of the things the press hate about us.

Of course that's not saying we have done any actual deals though... :(
