Lack of transfers
Lack of transfers
Maybe i'm getting too excited but the complete lack of transfer activity from our club is getting a bit of a joke. Its now nearing the end of June and all we've bought is one for the future.
Considering we need 4 or 5 players and our first pre-season game is in 3-4 weeks, is it not getting stupid?
I mean, those fucking idiots, Denilson, Bendtner and Almunia are still here and at the moment going nowhere!

Ever occur to you that the club might not actually be looking to sign those players depiste what the tabloids/people forums say?RoscommonGooner wrote:Am I correct in saying that we cannot sign any continental based players until July 1? If so, then fair enough. But what is really getting on my nerves is the fact that we have been linked with Cahill and Samba since the end of the season and there is still no sign of a deal being done

Most of Europe is 1st July.in England, the transfer window formally opens on 1 July, transfers between clubs in the same association can take place as soon the last competitive fixtures for the season have been played.
Thats the worrying thing. We're being linked with so many players ( as you do) but nothings happening. So is he really after them.
Odemwingie is being mentioned again but i don't see why. He's come from a second rate Russian side who couldn't wait to get rid, to West Brom.
If he was any good the big clubs would have been after him. But then again he will only cost a couple of million which would suit our manager down to the ground.
Surely he must know who he wants so get out there and spend some fucking money!
Makes you think we're being fed a line again?

but then the Chavs, Scum and Citeh haven't done anything yet.
Only Pool that have spent silly money on Henderson
and the Mancs on buying Jones.
The difference is boomer that the chavs and citeeh can go in for a player anytime they like and blow the opposition bid out of the water and they know it

I don't disagree with that. In general no ones yet busy in the Market.augie wrote:Boomer wrote:I'm worried too. Gone all too quiet......

As a "poor" club we need to get in early and snap up the players we want to buy but of course doing it that way wont save wenger the 4.99 that he gets by waiting untill the last few minutes
Of course the club also wont want to commit to spending money until champs league football is in the bag........of course if they had of spent it last jan not alone would it have been in the bag but we could also have had a league trophy alongside it

Ever occur to you that we need to strengten our team and should try and sign better players than we have as quickly as possible before other clubs get in there?MM99 wrote:Ever occur to you that the club might not actually be looking to sign those players depiste what the tabloids/people forums say?RoscommonGooner wrote:Am I correct in saying that we cannot sign any continental based players until July 1? Didn't know this, makes sense I guess.greengooner wrote:its like the arseblogger said in todays blog, a lot of player contracts end on june 31st and clubs accounting year ends on the same date, so this is going to delay a lot of transfers

I'm very concerned, mainly because we've been here before in each of the last 4 summers!
- it's been obvious we needed to sign players in the past, yet bizarrely we failed to do so
So until we actually sign the players needed to address our failings and improve this team, I'm not going to get my hopes up that this summer will be different to any other
you know... 4 times bitten, 5th time shy, and all that...
That said, not much business has been done by anyone yet, so it's early days. July will see more business done around Europe, then you have the late scramble for players in late August.
But regardless of how active we are in the market, no big signings will be made by us, so we'll be underwhelmed whatever happens. Best we can hope for is that we pick up a diamond disguised as a turd (Gervinho, perhaps?) whilst watching our rivals go for Alexis Sanchez and other top talent. Such is life.
