Your favourite all-time AKB excuses

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

The line they spout out that really brands them as spackers for life is this one;

"If we go mad spending billions on players we'll be ruined. That's what you want isn't it? Go and support the chavs then!!"

They usually spout that verbal skitter just after someone has mentioned that we need to invest in strengthening the squad. Not mentioned blowing billions, just that we need some sound investment in the squad.

Did anyone see the article in Thursday's Daily Mail - by Matt Lawton their Chief Football Correspondent?? It was an AKB wankfest. . . . . . .

* "When the financial fair play rules kick in, we might just see Arsenal rising to the top again"

* "If you owned a football club, who would you want as your manager? And who would you trust to deliver something that actually entertained you on a Saturday?"

* "Since his arrival in 1996 Arsenal's turnover has increased year on year"

* "Wenger had to get as much as he could for Fabregas and Nasri's move to Man City hasn't been completed so it would be foolish to spend money that hasn't arrived in the bank yet"

* "Wenger has always been careful and methodical in the transfer market"

And my absolute favourite piece of utter, utter shite by Lawton =
* "It's all very well calling for his head but who comes in to replace him?" :banghead: :banghead:

What a load of shit!! - If those arguments were anywhere near being true, George Washington would still be the American President.

You might be right Frank - there are a few other candidates on here as well.

When I read the article yesterday I wanted to go to the Mail's office, go up to Lawton's desk and kick him right up his arse. Wenger has been great for us but he is living on past glories.

If you do go up there, let Kingjayson know, he'll probably have some of that also... :barscarf:

Can I use that George Washington line in my after-dinner speech?

Of course you can mate - it came to me as I was typing. I was trying to think of an historical figure and I imagined a long since dead George Washington, propped up in a chair because everyone else was too terrified of change.

"What should we do with Iran Mr President?"
Silence because Iran didn't exist in 1776.

"What should we do about Al Qaeda Mr President?"
Silence because Al Qaeda didn't exist in 1776.

"Are you gonna spend any money in this transfer window Mr President?"
