Man City (H) CC Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

From thinking I didn't care about the CC and that we stood no chance anyway.....I'm now starting to change my mind on both.

Pretty obvious that none, or very few, of those who played for them in a very hard workout on Sunday will be playing again on Tuesday.

2-1 to the Arsenal..... :barscarf: !

Different subject Sammy, Was Vermaelen the first player to score for and against Arsenal in the same game since Sammy did in 1979 against Coventry ?
On the Carling Cup game, City will be too strong for us, but it would be nice to give it a go. Same will apply to City if they drop out of Champions League, they will win Europa League without trying.

Not the last and I'm not sure who was but I know Tony Adams dis it at Old Trafford in 1989
How could I forget that..the OG that launched a thousand chants....

fuck the CC

I´d start with

Flappy - Miquel - Djourou - Squillaci - Diaby - Coquelin - Frimpong - Benayoun - Miyaichi - Park - Chamakh -

While I hated losing against Bham, I'm not interested in this competition. It's not like if we win it we'll all feel good about the club and for that reason I'd go with Barriecuda (and others') and play Chamakh, Park, Benayoun, Miyaichi and even Diaby and tell them that they'll get a full game and hope that a bit of form and confidence may ensue. If not, what have we lost?

I doubt he will, but AW may even want to try a different formation (a diamond midfield with AA23 at the head).

Miyaichi is out for about 6 weeks I think.

I reckon we'll win this. Park to score!

If we win, then we'll hear even more about the players being jaded over January when they'll have 10 games to play.

Win the tie, sure - not impossible. But sign some fucking players in January for God's sake. We all know what happened as soon as the CC was done last season.

Players might be a little more 'free' given they're not favourites. I could see us possibly nicking this 1 nil.

Will lose, and couldn't care less, shit competition.
And just as last season failure in a final would be used as excuse for disgraceful seasonal capitulation, where as victory would be used to paper over the cracks and offered as a sweetener for failure to qualify for clge.

It's the repercussions of the win that would worry me, so on that basis I would sacrifice this "poo comp" until more important matters are adressed.
