Well if he were someone we signed then I hope you are right. But if his aforementioned work issues did create a problem then it seems like it may be a while before we would be able to see the guy anyway. Damnit can't we just buy podolski!?Demun210 wrote:I've seen a fair bit of him this season, and I think he's a genuinely decent player and if we are actually linked with him, then I think it's a good thing. As a player I think he is technically better than all of our attackers with the exception of RVP. I'm not saying we all need to be falling over ourselves about it, but to sit and write him off based off his Wikipedia page as 1989 has done, is just nothing short of ignorant. This is a player with something about him, and if he carries on as he has done over the last 18 months he will be signed by a "big" team in the near future. I put him in the same bracket as the likes of Eriksen & Goetze, who will make a big European move before too long.STLgooner89 wrote:I'm sure you've analysed him in depth atfter all the anderlcht matches you've scouted him at. Please write us a thesis as to why he would, in fact, be a great signing and be better than the Luis of the same surname.Demun210 wrote:You really don't know what you're talking about. A case of Wenger shopping in Primark again.

Avid follower of the Belgian league are you?Demun210 wrote:You really don't know what you're talking about. What knowledge have you of this player apart from watching him in a few Youtube clips where he's scoring against pub team defences. Romelu Lukaku was the top scorer at 18 in this league and he hardly gets a game for the chavs.
The Belgian Jupiler League is the equivalent of the Football League. There's hardly any decent teams there apart from Anderlecht and perhaps Genk. The only players who are near to being good enough to be in our squad in the Belgian league are Lucas Biglia and Kevin De Bruyne.
Now jog on dimwit.

Agree with you. I like Podolski, his skill is very well. and like the way he play in Germany team. I am sure he will be good at Arsenal and will be the perfect for Van Persie.Demun210 wrote:I like Podolski, but his track record suggests he could be another Arshavin...very good player on his day but can easily go missing and be ineffective if his role in the team doesn't completely suit him. He's playing well now, but he was awful at Bayern, and I do think he's one of those players that likes to be the focal point of the team, and if he's not, really under performs. Will be interesting to see what pans out.

a journalist is saying the deal is done:

After numerous tries during the day, eventually Pasion de Multitudes managed to get hold of him, just whenwe thought we were not going to be able to reach him Matias Suarez answered the phone.
He sounded very tired; he arrived in Turkey to Anderlecht winter camp on Friday, after 24 hours flight from Buenos Aires, and has been training since Saturday.
He has not done so at full speed with the rest of his team mates, but it sounded clear that he was not fully recovered from that odyssey.
However he was ready to talk, and very friendly, answering every question and not hiding behind the usual “no commentâ€

First I have heard of this. Have a friend who lives and Brussels and saw them twice last year. Once he came off the bench and the other he started and scored but both games he looked a lot more lively than Lukaku who was poor both times I saw him play.
Know its not a lot to go on but for me it wouldnt be too bad a signing as a backup player, alot better than Chamakh and Park in my opinion (although thats not hard).
