Re: Lineker on MOTD
I know where you are coming from Augie, but we can't have it both ways. It pisses me off more to see Song and others having a laugh with Chavski/Scum before and after matches (especially defeats). I'd prefer them to be pissed off and sore (like AW). I don't think being a bad loser lacks class, it is a competitive nature. If AW doesn't give enough plaudits to the opposition after defeats then so what? There are worse things a manager can do such as sending out a team to hurt the opposition. Lacking class is Pulis and that bitter Glaswegian Scouser who always looks like he is about to nut the interviewer (if he stays around long enough to finish the interview).
Complaining to the BBC is not PC gone mad. I'm sick of our club being the soft touch/easy target. The wanker from Wigan who wouldn't shake RVP's left hand and then acts the injured party to the media. Remember RVP walking off against Newcastle? (needing ref and TV protection). Can you imagine these pricks trying the same tactics at the home of manure or victim fc? They would be surrounded by player/staff and back down sharpish. Our club needs to stick up for itself a bit more and if that starts with the fans telling Lineker what an utter wanker he is then so be it. The media have portrayed us as an easy target for so long that even aresholes from the small club charter strut around the Emirates as if it's their place. Remember Hull running our players off the park after the whistle and then complaining about Cesc's anorak when he showed backbone?

Re: Lineker on MOTD
I got a reply this afternoon - usual rubbish
Dear Mr *******
Thank you for contacting us about the edition of ‘Match of the Day’ broadcast on Saturday 28 April.
Gary Lineker's closing line was a light-hearted reference to shots of Stoke fans behind the dugouts imitating Arsene Wenger's mannerisms. A clear differentiation was made between this and the booing of Aaron Ramsey which Gary Lineker and Alan Hansen strongly condemned.
In addition, Gary was not being xenophobic nor was he unfairly singling out a manager who has the admiration and respect of the whole ‘Match of the Day’ team and who has been the subject of praise on the show on many occasions.
Shots of football managers and their behaviour on the touchline have long been a source of good-natured humour across our output and elsewhere. However, we are sorry if we have inadvertently offended you.
I’d like to assure you I've registered your complaint on our audience log. This is an internal report of audience feedback which we compile daily and is available for viewing by all our staff. This includes all programme makers and presenters, along with our senior management. It ensures that your points, along with all other comments we receive, are considered across the BBC.
Thanks again for taking the time to contact us.
Kind Regards

Lineker made himself look like a bit of a twat. I don't feel the need to complain about it though...

Which is word for word the response I got. In my complaint I said I had no issue with the Stoke fans imitating Wenger's antics.or BBC showing it....so they have missed the point of my and I imagine many complaintscardinal2011 wrote:I got a reply this afternoon - usual rubbish

Re: Lineker on MOTD
I got the same reply so posted off the following.
The reply to my previous complaint in wholly inappropriate. When has Mr Lineker mocked the touchline antics of Alex Ferguson who is often very animated with fourth officials? When has the increasingly bitter Mr Dalglish been mocked for kicking the ball out of Martinezs' hand or the hint of imminent pint sized violence in each of his bad tempered interviews? The media, and your programme has attempted to define a dignified manager by pushing the image of his touchline antics irrespective of the fact that they are mirrored up and down football clubs across the country. Why were Mr Wenger's frustrations selected? Was it because of the vile abuse he suffered at Stoke where the chants of "Shawcross he breaks when he wants" rang out amongst the boos directed at Ramsey? Or perhaps the chants telling a paedophile to sit down? Amongst all this vile abuse you and your presenter choose to vindicate the actions of the Stoke fans and take a swipe at Mr Wenger. In the absence of any other explanation it must be considered that his nationality biases your output. Your team are a disgrace and the fact they can make light of fan abuse directed at Mr Wenger is wholly negligent of the vile that went on that day which was supported by Mr Pulis (who refused to condemn the booing of Ramsey) being a guest on your show the following day. A stoke fan who participated in the disgraceful actions of that afternoon must have felt vindicated after viewing your programme.

Re: Lineker on MOTD
Lineker would not dare to do a piss take of any other manager.
It stinks of bias. Hardly surprising, with his sp*rs background. And the fact that his beloved sp*rs are now in their proper place (behind Arsenal). The idiot actually posed the question "Can sp*rs win the league?" on MOTD.
Before being shot down in flames by Hansen.
He's an over-paid idiot.
Where do I send my complaint?

Re: Lineker on MOTD
Okay, some might feel it's OTT and trivial complaining, BUT, face to face with your Spurs mates (I know you all have some
) you stick up for our club. That *unt slagged off one of our own (yes, despite everything he gives it all for our team Mr W) thinking he was untouchable and knowing he was giving a piece for his old scum mates. So I was annoyed and aggravated as well as all the others at the cowardly, snide way he gave us some stick. We couldn't give it back....
It was abusive and was disrespectful to Wengers French mannerisms maybe , but, if he said/did it to our face we'd give some back and it'd be forgotten maybe as banter...the Stoke abuse needn't of been highlighted as it happens everywhere to all managers/players, maybe not acceptable, but it happens....So I'm sure if me/others saw you getting the personal abuse as Wenger did from Lineker, we'd stick up for you as we're doing complaining to the Beeb regards Wenger abuse....looking after our own !!
The bog standard response from BBC is bad though...shows disrespect and disregard for the situation and I believe should be followed up whoever received them...

This thread reminds me of my 80 year old granny who used to love writing in to Terry Wogan on points of view
Her complaints were often as frivolous as Lineker's poor joke, but it kept her busy

Nope, the point is not to compain for the sake of it. The point is to complain because a) our licence goes TO lineker to spout his anti-arsenal/french shite b) because motd is supposed to be impartial - I remember arsenal fans doing an impression of phil brown when hull played at the emirates. He was always waving his arms around and we did the same thing - if lineker did an impression of Phil brown and then a geordie accent, wouldn't that be seen as offensive? Lineker is clearly bitter because he thought Spurs would finish above us - but when they were ahead of us, I didn't see Dicko on the couch doing his twitch...
