Lineker on MOTD

Post by glenngould »

My complaint to the BBC - type 'complain to the BBC' into google and get going. COMPLAIN ABOUT HIM!

I wish to complain once again about the petty mindless childishness of Gary Lineker on Match of the Day. His bitter impersonation of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was both xenophobic and offensive. Will he be doing a Scottish impersonation of Kenny Daglish or Alex Ferguson in the near future? Or perhaps a Spanish version of Roberto Martinez? Lest we forget, this is the infantile presenter who once closed a World Cup match featuring Brazilian great Ronaldo: "Well, he may floss his teeth with rope, but..."
The old boys network of Match of the Day has long been a tiresome feature of Saturday nights, but Lineker has succeeded in taking it to new lows.
Please can this nasty 'little' man be taken off our screens and replaced with a presenter who actually presents the programme, and doesn't try to impose onto it his own prejudice and unpleasantness.

I was watching MotD this morning with my brother when I saw it. I wanted to get up, pull his f--king deformed face through the television and throw punch after punch at his ugly f--king face. Bitter Scum c---. Only happens with Arsenal though, he wouldn't dare do it against anyone else. I guess you can't f--king complain when the referee denies you stonewall penalties or opposition players think they're on a f--king rugby field.

Utter c--- of the highest order.

Of-course I was thinking all of this in my head, didn't say a word about it at the time, kept a straight face.

I will do exactly as you did, good idea mate.

No matter how much I am against Wengers negligent mismanagement of the club the racist chanting by Stoke fans made me sing his name louder than ever before yesterday in defense of him and to see Lineker mock him further, albeit in a harmless manner, infuriated me again. He wouldn't have dared to do the same with any other manager and his xenophobic remark at the end just trivializes a serious manner. He continues to get sickening chants of being a pedophile aimed at him yet more was made of our booing of Shawcross! MOTD is a joke always has been and always will be!

Dear Sir/Madam,

Saturday's Match of the Day broadcast closed with host Gary Lineker making a rude, offensive and bias gesture regarding Arsene Wenger. I would like to lodge a complaint regarding this as it is simply unacceptable conduct for a supposed 'neutral' broadcaster. Mr Lineker's gesture was aimed at humiliating Arsene Wenger for making complaints regarding racial abuse. Racism is not a humorous topic, it adversely affects millions of people both in the United Kingdom and worldwide and for Mr Lineker to somehow attempt to sideline the issue as something worthy of ridicule is quite frankly disgusting and upsetting. What may be more concerning however is the BBC's apparent agreement with Mr Lineker, for the exact same gesture was shown on the morning repeat of the programme. Does the BBC endorse racism?

I would like an explanation as to why this gesture was allowed to be aired not only in the first place, but also on the repeat several hours later. I would also like to be informed as to the disciplinary procedures that Mr Lineker will be undergoing as a result of this gesture and the offensive it has caused.

Until issues such as racism are taken seriously by both the BBC and Mr Lineker, my viewership of Match of the Day will be postponed.

Thank you for your time and I await a response.

To whom it may concern,

I wish to make a formal complaint about the conduct of Gary Lineker on last night's Match of the Day programme. His crass and quite frankly sickening mocking of Arsene Wenger was offensive and wholly unnecessary. It is quite clear that Linker as a presenter is of limited talent. The whole format of the show these days is on the whole akin to an "Old Boy's network". Why not simply focus on football and on the relative merits of the various important battles at this crucial part of the season? Lineker et al choose instead to ignore the supposed impartiality of BBC coverage by partaking in childish and crass mocking of a football manager that helps provide copy for Match of the Day shows over 15 years. I find my intelligence insulted that there are not better presenters than Lineker, Hansen, Lawrenson and co. If the rumoured cost of these presenters to the license payers is to be believed, it beggars belief that they cannot provide real insight on a weekly basis. Instead Match of the Day resembles a chat a load of mates would have in the pub as opposed to a world-class sports programme.

I wish for you to answer 2 questions: 1) Does the BBC support xenophobic childish mocking of a key conttributor to the British game? 2) Do you feel that the license payer should be paying wages to these individuals, to produce a lazy and one-dimensional take on the English football game?

I look forward to your honest response.

Good work! Hope these are all going to the BBC - please lodge your complaints against this awful man. I wonder if the New at Ten will be finishing with a 'hilarious' impersonation of Barack Obama tomorrow night...? MOTD is SUPPOSED to be an unbiased summary of the weekend's football, NOT a vehicle and platform for nationalistic prejudice.

To read some of the bile directed against Wenger on here, and then see people complaining about Lineker?

I have never liked much about Lineker, he seems arrogant, but to be quite honest this MOTD thing did not bother me much.
It just made Lineker look stupid and even more like a monkey than he already does.

Lineker is so funny, love it... not!
I wonder if he'd have done that if it were any other manager!
Just switched the TV off and shouted "prick", bring decent, impartial journalists in instead!

You're right but Lineker and co. are just asked to report on a game of football, nothing more. Stop trying (and failing) to be funny! Lee Dixon does his job properly, the two scouse grandpas are doing my head in!

to be honest I thought to focus on the neanderthal inbred chavvy Stoke supporters mocking him was worse, especially that Vicky Pollard type in the front row.

I have more respect for the Little Britain programme now - they obviously visited Stoke for their inspiration - the cesspit of the UK

I would agree with you there but for a national broadcaster to allow that especially in the repeat programme is wrong. Arsenal supporters who are up in arms about this and the sickening abuse of Ramsey are treating it as a seperate issue to any feelings they have about Wenger's ability to manage and Ramsey's current form. The Stoke fans imitating Wenger was harmless and funny, for the BBC to highlight it wasn't so bad, but the venom in Lineker's voice and his quoting French crossed the line.
MOTD 2 were at it again with the grinning Pulis in the studio. The point is that it is not acceptable for a supposedly unbiased broadcaster to carry on in this manner. The complaints are valid. I complained online but a question asked where I lived and as a non-licence payer (live in ireland) I imagine my complaint will not count.
MOTD needs to be freshened up. Look what the new presenter and pundit did for Sky.
