Wednesday v Leeds - Kirkland assaulted by 'fan'

"I'm absolutely embarrassed - absolute disgrace," said enraged Leeds boss Neil Warnock afterwards. "Get the guy, prosecute him and put him in bloody prison.

"I'm not proud to be Leeds United manager when I see that.

"Our crowd was fantastic tonight - we had one moron.

"I'm very sorry about that."
Well, today Warnock has publically apologised to Kirkland for his comments last night which implied Kirkland had made a meal of it.

I dont know what I would have done in a situation where a c unt comes outta nowhare - jabs me in the face, possibly eyes, with hundreds of his mates right behind him.

I think its ridiculuous of Warnock and us behind keyboards criticising Kirkland for hitting the deck. Probably the best thing was to hit the deck and cover up.

Dont get this confused with players diving/cheating to get a free kick or pen. Absolutely day and night - no comparison. This guy was in danger.
He's not a feckin hedgehog, armchair

(I agree 100% he shouldn't be criticised for going down though)

Doesn't surprise me one little bit - behind the murdering Mickeys, Leeds fans are the scum of the earth as far as I'm concerned.

Would be interested to see what the likes of Herd and some of the 'old skool' fans (self styled Danny Dyer's need not apply) make of Leeds fans through the decades, because in my experience this incident is in keeping with everything I've ever witnessed. Last time I went up there was the 97/98 season opener. I took my old man up there and got abused, spat at etc by a bunch of wannabe wankers trying to provoke a reaction from an easy target. I've seen gangs of them jumping on a small handful of easy target fans on other occasions too. So Friday night's 'little hero' shoving over Kirkland before running back to the safety of 3,000 wankers was exactly in keeping with the same cowardly shite I've seen in my time.

Looks like Kirkland has got stones, mind you it would have been funnier if he'd twatted him!

I lived oop north for most of the seventies and went to loads of away games, but I would not go to Elland Road. Yes I was a pussy, but it was fooking dangerous for gooners.

Having said that, wife is from Leeds and the in laws are Leeds fans. They are disgusted and annoyed by what that twat did and want him locked up. It was interesting as I follow some of the lads on twitter, that the guy's name was being posted by Leeds fans within a few minutes.

Leeds fans will have been trying to say it was disgraceful as they wont like being labelled as being 'scum' and 'thugs'- nearly every team that goes there sing 'we all hate leeds scum' But the fact is its their own fans i.e. the Service Crew who have got them their reputation so they only have themselves to blame.

Later on a punch up started between two players and their fans ran onto the pitch to attack everyone, one lad (and he is a huge, hard fucker) got jumped by about 7 guys and had his arm broken and was kicked to shit and they jumping up and down on him.............................now that's cowardly..................and yes kirkland does make a meal of that push.......man the fuck up

What the fuck is it with air rifles?! :banghead:

Played in a game in Dundalk years ago just after the movie Trainspotting came out and some wanker shot about 5 lads on the pitch from nearby trees. No one could see him but players were leaping around grabbing their arses/backs/legs like fucking mad. Initially we had no idea what was going on. Our keeper caught one right in the arsecheek and it split him.

I know I shouldn't be laughing about this as it was a miracle no one lost an eye but at the time it was piss funny. Having said that, if the 22 players + subs + 20 or so spectators + ref and linesmen that ran into the trees had caught the kúnt I do think he would have been beaten to death. :?

Dundalk is/was a bit of an IRA town and my mate Fat Joe reckoned we had encountered "IRA-Lite". I still find that piss funny for some reason!

I think it was more the 'shock' of it, rather than the force of the 'contact' that floored him....But you're right He should have put the *word censored* down then studded his face into shreds... :box: :box: Nice!

Said it before, said it again, players can't get into it with fans and I think he was right go down. It settled things down and didn't prompt more morons to enter the pitch and start clashing.
