Anyone can win CL, Chavs proved that last year. The Invincible era was an experience not likely to be repeated. 38 games without a loss, that's incredible.

But every superpower club in Europe has won the CL. You can never be considered a big club in European terms unless you actually conquer Europe.We are always on the outside looking in.The Invincibles means a lot in England but to gain respect all over Europe we have to win Europe's biggest prize.Bergkamp Henry and Vieira would have all swapped an unbeaten season to win a CL with Arsenal

We NEED the European Cup.

It's the glaring omission from our trophy cabinet and without it we're always going to have that hanging over our heads. ALL the big clubs (and many small ones) have won it, yet we haven't! - Hell, even Forest (twice) and Villa have won the thing. Oh, and so have the chavs and that is too much. Now it's the race to win the thing before Sp*rs...

The Invincibles were impressive, but a European Cup - the pinnacle of club football - is more important and would be even sweeter.

Yes, but it would have given Wenger even more power? It would have also given him more leeway than he's already got in pursuing his personal vanity project!

It would have been worth it. That team was incredible and deserved to win the European Cup. A travesty they didn't. I cried for about 3 hours that night. I was gutted. I have never seen as much of a second of that match again and I never will.

Agreed. It would have been worth putting up with Wenger had we got the trophy.
