As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
hugh jardon wrote:As SteveO35 has pointed out - Wenger will have a huge say in this (largely as nobody on the board has any knowledge of football).
Wenger's recent player signings are usually unknown curveballs from overseas that nobody was expecting. I think the next manager will fit the same criteria.
Hard not to disagree. The board will probably think "we can get great value on the cheap like we did in 96". Cue a series of underwhelming and underperforming managers?
The fact is even after embarrassing defeats to rivals, embarrassing exits to cup competitions, being beaten by our NLD rivals and pushed 7 points out of 4th (when apparently we're supposed to be a club capable of title challenging), there has hardly been a peep from ownership about even considering options instead of Wenger. He's simply not going anywhere, unless the fan sentiment becomes overwhelming - and frankly, with the number of AKB clones that seem to fill the stadium, that doesn't seem likely either.
Laudrup would be my realistic first choice(mourinho and pep in fantasy land)in the real world of Arsenal.he oozes class,he's smooth just like GG was,he plays proper football, he is everything Arsenal used to be about but are sadly no longer.
Young dynamic team and very littlecash spent as we all know our club's tighter than a crab's crack at 40 fathoms he is the only choice.
Wouldn't take Clark because next year if Lukaku goes back to the chavs, they will drop like a stone. Their defence gets mooted as being very good. It's not, they just have decent protection. Yacob and Mulumbu are 2 really good players that get very little mention.
Laudrup seems to like being a big fish in a small pond. I am not sure he's bottling the big jobs by putting himself out of reach more a case of he probably doesn't like all the other sh**e that comes with being in a big club whereas in little old swansea he can get on with it. There is no pressure whatsoever.
If it does eventually turn out to be Stojkovic or the world's most overrated manager Martinez, it will be conclusive proof once and for all who calls the shots at Arsene FC.
Two losers who like to play pretty triangles and know as much about defending as Nicklas Bendtner does about modesty
Like anything involving the playing side at Arsenal, just ask yourself the question: "Who is shit and cheap."? Then,go about three levels lower than that, ask him to take a pay-cut and you've got yer man.

I've got it, Phil Brown all he wants for payment is a Karaoke machine and lifetime membership to a solarium ...quick get him in...
As we just stave off relegation on the last day of 2014/15 season by only losing 6nil to the scum good old Phil takes to the pitch at the grove to belt out the tunes

I can actually picture the be-tanned arsehole strutting out with his headmic on, doing an Elvis medley...
I have also posted on this in the Wenger thread, but Paul Hayward suggests Wenger could leave this summer because he will no longer be under contract, the final year of his deal being optional.
"Unconfirmed reports say the last year of his current deal, which ends next summer, is optional, which would mean he could leave without breaking the spirit of previous pronouncements on seeing out his contract."
