As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
currently it would be
1) Spurs
2) Chelsea
3) City - (not surprised there have hardly been any votes for them but unfortunately likely to feature in everyone's top 3 lists from now on)
5 years ago it would be
1) Chelsea
2) United
3) Spurs (they were more irrelevant back then - (I am hoping they are currently going the same way)
25 years ago it would be
1) Spurs
2) Liverpool
3) United
1. Chavs. No redeeming features at all and can't even watch them on the telly without becoming stressed. Anti-football. Mata must get the hell out before he's contaminated. My older brother supports them and he hates good football. He told me the other day what a really nice man Mourinho is. (no hope).
2. Liverpool. Whatever they say, they've not fully accepted their responsibility for Heysel. Plus their victim mentality (eg Suarez T shirts) is nauseating
3. The lot from the shit bit of North London. They are so laughable that my dislike is less than it is for the other 2. I suppose I disliked them more when they had some decent players (Ardiles etc).
I think the direction you come at this question determines your result.
For example; I enjoy beating the Chavs more than I enjoy beating the Scum, but I hate losing to the Scum more than to the Chavs (in the way that you might not be as distraught if you lost a race to Asafa Powell as if the snotty-nosed, eleven year old from next door beat you).
However, there is history and tradition involved so, by a short head, it's
I'm going against the grain with this but the red Mancs will top my hatred list from here until the end of time. I've never considered spurs a footballing rival at all, they're just a mild irritant and always have been. Don't get me wrong, I can't stand them and their club or their fans but they would be 3rd on my list.
1. Tottenham - I always feel ill before we play them as the thought of losing to them is so horrendous.
2. Liverpool - Can't abide the Liverpool bias in the media. The ex players definitely have never forgiven us for knocking them off their perch (although unfortunately United took advantage of that more than us). The 2005 Champions League Final was one of the worst nights ever only surpassed by Chelsea winning it.
3. West Ham would have been in my top 3 when i was younger as i was bought up in West Ham land and 1980 was a nightmare. Its got to be Chelsea now as they have such a hold on us despite being the most screwed up club in the land.
For nearly all the reasons already mentioned. Manure piss me off and I enjoy seeing them lose but at least hey have had some decent players, played well, not been the scum, not been followed by a bunch of extreme-right thugs or killed anyone at a European final.
Tottscum, many levels above any of the others. No explaining needed.
Chavs. Coz they are from London and like to think they are now some how better than us. Winning the lottery and winning a small handful of titles does not qualify you for anything you sad pathetic little club. YOu are nowhere near our total of 13 titles and nobody takes your fluke in the champions league seriously. Has a worse team ever won it before? They finished 6th ffs how can that qualify them to be the best team in Europe? They can fuck off with their full kit racist wanker captain and Ashley phone up his pee hole Cole.
THe bippers for all the reasons you lot have mentioned.
1. The tiny tots. Even though have been shit for the last fifty years and will always live in our shadow. Lovely quotes from Jimmy Greaves...
“I’m not going to win many friends at Spurs by saying Arsenal are my idea of a football club. In many ways the perfect club.”
“Many of the principles that have been the hallmark of successful football through the years were refined at Arsenal. It pains me to say it but Bill Nicholson borrowed freely from his rivals when he was putting together his great Spurs side.
“Arsenal have class. I remember when I was at Spurs, the Arsenal players would arrive for matches in their navy blazers with the gold gun emblem sewn into their pockets and grey slacks. We couldn’t match their ground with that beautiful main entrance, marble halls and spiral staircase. Even in 1961 when we won the Double, we were never as big a club as Arsenal.”
“In the early 1960s, Spurs had a great manager and a great team. But they have never been a great club. Even when we had Bill Nicholson as manager and the likes of Dave Mackay, Cliff Jones, Danny Blanchflower and myself, Spurs still lived in the shadow of Arsenal."
2. Manchester fucking United. Massive fan base created by a national wave of sympathy after the tragic Munich plane crash. They had the fattest cheque book in the land for many many years. Which bought them silverware. Another massive wave of borrowed money bought them success when the Glazers bought the club. Their plastic fans are now having a pop at City for splashing the cash. Pffff!!
And I will never forgive them for recruiting Mike fucking Riley and preventing the Invincibles fiftieth unbeaten match. I've never seen a more crooked game.
3. Chavs. Shit club. No history. Overspent and were due to go bankrupt before the Russian arrived with his dirty money. Disgusting horrible players like jt and cashley. Horrible.
Dishonorable mentions go to.....
West Ham. Always had some nasty support. When one of theirs knifed one of ours to death I really, really started to hate them.
Dirty Leeds. Filthy lot in the late sixties and early seventies. Bremner, Hunter and the rest would purposely injure their opponents. Disgusting anti-football.
Stoke City. Orks. Pullis made Stoke as bad as the old Dirty Leeds. Filthy Shawcross is still there.
Victims. Disgusting supporters. Still "jibbing". Even after the Hillsborough tragedy. Disrespectful to their own dead. But they will never accept that as an idea. If a scouser was doing 50mph in a 30mph limit and knocked over a pedestrian...it would be the police's fault for not enforcing the law properly. I really hate the victim mentality. Take responsibility for your own actions you twats.
For me it's got to be the mancs that top the list. And it's simply because of the smug, entitled, glory hunting plastics they have globally masquerading as fans. Now that the ill-fate is on, I'm as close as I'll ever be to the fabled paradise/heaven, basking and revelling in every defeat that comes their way. Appointment of a loser mid-table manager was always going to pan out disastrous for a club of such massive success, but I honestly didn't expect the Moyes influence to have set in so quickly.
The chavscum are a close 2nd for all the reasons stated prior in thread. Bunch of no history, classless and lack of tradition nobodies, who somehow feel they've now arrived because a Russian looney, who has more cash then sense, bought them immediate "success". Throw in the detestable Portuguese miscreant they have as manager and I'm instantly hard pressed to switch their place with the mancs.
Third goes to the scum. Mostly a laughable lot who deserves more pity than condemnation. Still, no explanation needed why any well thinking, decent human being would despise that rotten lot of primates.
Mention of the newly arrived City, whose fans are fast becoming nauseating, wouldn't go amiss. Stoke are nobodies, actually, and don't deserve our energies. Complete waste of loathing. The victims have always be a vile, odious and reprehensible bunch, and their falling from grace was much delayed. Long may their misery last, and despite them having an utter scum of a human being getting them a few good results this season, they will eventually take their rightful place in the table come May.
1. The knuckle dragging scumbag *word censored* up the wrong end of seven sisters road. This is a hatred that will never leave me. I had mellowed toward them as they weren't really a rival for so long. I even found myself having conversations with some of their 'fans' without taking the piss. Then I realised why:- I hadn't been to a derby game for a few seasons. So I went to one with Reb and the hatred started to rise as they came out for their pre match warm up. By the time kick-off arrived I could have happily taken a shite over the edge of the upper tier. Horrible *word censored*, the lot of them.
2. Joint one here. Chavs and Citeh. These two clubs are responsible for destroying the game I love by putting a fucking great fat chequebook on one end of the scales and tipping it out of reach of proper clubs. Unforgivable that it has been allowed to happen. These clubs are made worse by the sad deluded supporters that actually believe their team would have done as well without the Russian murderer or the oil barrens. Deluded *word censored*!
3. Victims. Don't really need to say too much about them. "biggest club in the world" "best supporters" "great atmosphere" "wasn't our fault" etc.etc. How much bullshit and whining can one group of support produce in a lifetime. May they never win fuck all again and may they descend into being the thieving dole scrounging sister fucking bunch of inbred *word censored* that we all know them to be.
