I think bringing through only 3 players from the youth system in his 16 years here is a really poor return. especially when only one of them (Cole) has to this point actually played more than 100 games for us, and remember Wenger wasn't overly keen on him initially.

As for the other two, Gibbs has yet to fully establish himself as a guaranteed first team regular and only plays as much as he does due to our paucity and lack of a legitimate option in that position, and Jack would have come through any system at any club such is his talent, so I'm not sure Wenger deserves any credit there either.

So even Wenger's reputation for discovering and nurturing youth players, when given more than a cursory examination, is proving to be nothing more than a myth.

I may be wrong, but I seem to remember we had agreed to flog Cole to Crystal Phallus for something poxy like £250k, however the deal got the kibosh once Sylvinho's dodgy passport became a problem.

Nice man Arsenal legend as a player but it's about time in my opinion however I thank him and wish him well !
His replacement should be Shaun O'Connor the man who brought Wilshere to Arsenal and used to bring many a player to Arsenal before they screwed him .
A massive Gooner and currently in charge of recruitment at Brentford he would suit the Job to a Tee .
Doubt if he will get a chance though !

Bristol's first game in Division One . Supermacs first game for Arsenal. Gerry Gow got the winner after Supermac had told Arsenal fans to turn up and he would give them a goal.
Brady was one of the greatest players ever to wear an Arsenal shirt. He was a genius with amazing vision. Met hoim a few times and he comes across a genuine person who has taken it in his stride. I accept people believe that not enough players came through the system but in fairness many of those that left to find a career elsewhere were better than the ones Wenger brought in like Gerv, Chamakh etc.

Remember Brady on RTE a few years back with other members of the grumpy old men's club, Giles, Dunphy etc. They were asking him about the next great Irish hope that may emerge from The arsenal that may benefit the Irish international set up whilst obviously lamenting about the talent from the past. Brady bigged up one young guy that was setting tongues wagging and had 'very high hopes for' . Said he was the most promising Irish player they had in years, went by the name Anthony Stokes Very wrong unfortunately . File under 'What were we thinking ' ....( slash/Tosser for that matter). Hopefully who ever fills the position is left with some unpolished gems and we won't be just looking at Wiltshire and Gibbs as his legacy.
