As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

You clearly lead a very fulfilling life making a player out to be worse than he is.

Gibbs has been in the side for the vast majority of the season for the past two seasons, from what I remember any injuries he's had in that time have been minor.
... but regular.
Since becoming first choice LB in 2011-2012 season, His PL record is;
2012 - 16 apps
2013 - 27 apps
2014 - 28 apps
2015 - 17 apps so far
I seem to recall the PL season is 38 games....
Key phrases - vast majority, last two seasons. 28/38 and 27/38 is the vast majority.
Slightly less than three quarters is a "vast" majority? Are you a politician by any chance?

If Gibbs wasn't as fast as he is,he'd be even worse a full-back,Monreal for me is the better left back, seems more aware and better at reading the game than Gibbs,I think Gibbs inside the United box last night in Monreals position would have tried to cross it to no-one,I thought it was a great composed finish from Monreal,
So impressed with Nacho's finish last night; so many times full backs get into decent shooting positions and completely bottle it, but he kept his composure and stroked home beautifully. He's definitely one of the success stories of the season.
I've been a fan of Nacho for a while now. I'd certainly start him over Gibbs who is positionally poor and often ends up in the wrong post code when we lose the ball. He's not perfect but not many defenders are (and I think we as Arsenal fans are a bit too quick to write our players off and harsh on our defenders anyway).
I'm glad he's turned it around for himself, the decision to play him at centre back was an awful one and he could have quite easily gone backwards and played worse than he has done in the past.
He looks pretty solid now, don't think he's the best in the world but he's certainly a more responsible and solid option that Gibbs who scares me when he plays now.

If only Ozil was willing to shoot occasionally.
Don't mean to be rude, but out of curiosity, did you watch Ozil frequently before he came to the Arsenal? He doesn't shoot. It's not his game. Not once scored double digits goals in a season.
When you can pass that well, it rarely makes sense to shoot.
He's done okay this season. Seems reliable and won't let anyone down, but he won't make the last ditch tackle without risk of conceding a penalty or goal line clearance. But that was a great finish for his goal. Gibbs is a better left back and if anyone reckons Luke shaw is ahead of Gibbs needs to watch Mondays match again.
Monreal is turning into a better defender than Gibbs, and Gibbs is better going forwards but not a very good defender! I'm not sure Monreal is the answer because he gets skinned too much at the back, but he has improved tremendously.
