Relegation Battle

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

would love to see hull go back down where they belong though. they have the mancs last game of the season, could easily be in a position where we beat sunlun but they survive anyway. perfect 8)
No bother mate, I was thinking you might relegate us but if it happens it happens, we've been woeful all season and for most of the last one so it will hardly be undeserved! We should stay up now like but spurs are a worry as they look totally disinterested, might be another twist yet.

If we stay up it'll be a very hollow victory tbh, bored of the whole league, bored of watching about five wins a season and bored of starting a season knowing we can't hope to ever really challenge. I want us to survive because you want your club as high as possible but if we go down I might actually start enjoying games again, this season has been a chore and increasingly I've found myself wishing I'd just stayed in the pub

Are we talking about Arsenal or Sunderland there buddy ?  I think that most Gooners feel the same way about our annual race for 4th place  :(
Spot on, both clubs are suffering from the current, finance driven era. For Sunderland, Ellis Short doesn't want to invest because you have to invest a fortune just to move a couple of places up the table, financially you're best off just surviving (one of these years, maybe this one, he'll push it too close and we'll go down which will totally fuck his model up).

Arsenal are just a higher level version of Sunderland in that sense, the club seem to think that as long as they can keep getting champions league football it isn't worth spending the hundred plus million to really challenge Chelsea, probably the sums show that it wouldn't earn them a profit. As fans, we agree that football should be able more than that, you can't put a price on winning a title so arsenal fans would happily lose money for a season if it brought a league title. Alas, despite what they may say, fans no longer matter, shareholders are the be all and end all and they just want the profit. But like with us, eventually arsenal will fuck up and miss out on fourth and then the model doesn't work.

Football is just getting boring, regardless of our possible escape, might as well just watch a bunch of spreadsheets running about nowadays, it's all about money and to hell with trying to win for the glory and because it's supposed to be a fucking sport.

Well said, mate!

For many of our fans, it's all about Champions League qualification. It's all about tippy-tappy. It's all about Wenger and fuck our history.

So a Hull win next week against ManUre could still send the Geordies or Mackems down

Hull have been consistently poor this season and I don't think Bruce wouldn't complain if they did drop he knows they've been poor. Sunderland have been teetering on the edge for a second season and don't look like making progress any time soon. I think its gonna be a sad day for Hull Tigers...sorry City.

If you want a relegation battle, look no further than the Bundesliga.

SIX teams at risk and no-one's beeen relagted yet.

I think we're beyond squeaky bum time...

 8)
