Relegation Battle

Post by Eboue-Why? »

Fascinating stuff down there. Safe to assume that Burnley and QPR have gone but who's the third?
The Geordies current run is comical and I'd love to see Villa go down but I fear it's the Mackems given their run in.
A club we have a good relationship with and it'd be a shame if we beat them and send them down.

Newcastle in dire straits ...they haven't a hope of turning themselves around and can only hope that other results conspire to keep them up. Think Villa have the momentum now to stay up and Leicester are similar. One of the north east big two I think will go with QPR and Burnley.

QPR
and
Burnley are gone!

Just wish it were Villa as well - But will probably be Newcastle or Hull.....Hope we can help Hull on their way to the championship!

The relegation battle makes gripping viewing every season (as does the battle for promotion from the championship) and this season is no different 8) Up until Saturday I had villa to go down but that mouthy Sherwood c.unt seems to have turned them around (all on his own no doubt  ) and I would be shocked if they were relegated now. Personally I hope that Leicester stay up - they are traditionally a top division club (well in my lifetime anyway) and I like their attitude and that of their manager, plus cambiasso has been a great signing and I would like to see him in the league again next season.
I believe hull are going down and when we beat them tonight I feel that they will be as good as gone - they (and the mackems) have a shocking run in, but I feel that sunderland have a bit more experience and talent to do (barely) enough to stay up. Like many of you, I would like to see sunderland survive but they do need to sort themselves out and I honestly don't think that advocaat is the guy to do it long term.

Villa would be my preference to get relegated but failing that the geordies would be my next choice - I actually feel sorry for carver (the players are killing him), Jonas (to battle back from cancer like that, and to walk into a shitstorm like this is harsh) and I even feel sorry for their fans who support a club with a big fanbase and who could be a genuine power if they were run properly. Their fat c.unt chairman (and pardew when he was there) have made me dislike their club and I would shed no tears if they are relegated

Think it will be Sunderland. They have to go to us, Chelsea and Everton. Could get a result at the latter but realistically they need to beat Leicester at home. Think Hull will beat Burnley at home.

Would be great to see Newcastle go down but each other side below them needs to win a game for that to happen.

Hopefully Hull go down, shit town and club. It would be funny to see Newcastle go down, but I think they'll barely have enough points.

I'd like Villa to go down but for Sherwood to stay on, he's hilarious. They'll stay up though so I want Hull to go down, they're a nothing club and their prices are ridiculous.

Newcastle have got QPR away in a couple of weeks. If they don't win that then I think they'll go down.

Would love to see the deluded Barcodes continue their freefall and disappear out of the division. Pardew supposedly was a muppet.....god knows what that makes Carver and the mugs who drove Pardew out. They were comfortably mid-table under him and only a couple of years back were pushing for the CL places until the last few games of the season

I'm sure like the Charlton fans who claimed Curbishley had taken them as far as they could go.....and the Leicester fans who said the same about O'Neill would offer up the words that Patrick Barclay has tried to copyright - BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR

I think we'll go but you never know. If only Liverpool had taken care of hull like you did they'd be favourites to drop now. They've got a hard run in and Newcastle don't seem likely to get the win that would secure their place. Ultimately we just have to beat Leicester and hope fora surprise point or win elsewhere which, at the end of the season, wouldn't be a massive shock.

It's an exciting battle and I hope we stay up but truth be told we deserve to drop and it would serve us right for narrowly escaping last year and not strengthening. We've been shit all season and we'd be no loss to the league. Still, we have hope, if only everyone could have the passion that Danny Graham showed at the weekend we'd be fine!

Hopefully tonight means the second to last nail in Ull's coffin. Can't see them getting owt at ManUre or The Spuds so one win for Sunderland may now be enough.

It should be I agree but it'll just be down to the timing, when they picked the tv matches they'll have wanted to make sure they showed what they thought might still be a title battle and will probably have thought that Leicester were too far adrift to still be involved in a relegation battle. Typically they've suddenly started getting wins and should now get safe.

Hate relegation battles but if I've learned one thing from the many I've seen Sunderland involved in its that there's no point in worrying about being bookies favourites to go down or about a hard run-in, it almost seems to be pot luck with various crazy results flying around. Our run in is difficult but in theory we've got three teams with not much to play for (one of which has a cup final on the horizon and who, as it's a game in hand, we effectively have a free shot at) and a Leicester side who, as good as they've been recently, can't keep winning indefinitely! I think we'll go and like I say we could have no complaints, we've offered nothing to the league for seasons on end, but there's always hope.
