Have had this weird feeling in my guts for a few days now.... wasn't sure if that Balti on Friday had been dodgy or wtf was going on and then it suddenly hit me.... I'm looking forward to the new season.... I'm excited about the Arsenal again... have not had this preseason feeling since about 2010 maybe even earlier...

Yeah I’m sort of looking forward to it but am underwhelmed by our signings at present, I mean a 34 year old

We will be singing “Unai Emerys Dads Army” at this rate.

We are still penny pinching while wolves are paying 35 million for a right back.

The other defender seems bang average and did we sign that 17 year old wonder kid

I’m sure he will looking at better quality players, (well I hope he is) and his new signings are better than I imagine them but the new one seems like a job for an old mate that he managed before who in 2 years time after 10 games or so will end up on the coaching staff, different manager, same old shit.

Anyhow it’s cricket season

I think the point here is we need some steel and experience in our back four and he gives us that , if it turns Bellerin into a much better player ( and he has the potential) then it's a good investment , our money needs to be spent better elsewhere namely a quality DM.

Not with a 50m budget, half of which is earmarked for defenders and the other half is Ramsey’s new 200k a week contract!!

I have always believed that a limited budget should not mean necessarily accepting second best and throwing in the towel, and it just takes being a bit creative with what we have - if we want a top player, then throw in a player of ours to lessen the cost even if some might see it as a set back. If this jorginho guy is as good as advertised, then throw ozil + £20m-£25m at napoli and see if that will do the trick - even if you believe ozil is still a top player (and I dont), you would have to agree that the CDM/CM position is a much more important position to strengthen right now. Ancelotti managed ozil before and would probably love to do so again, and ozil would be joining a champs league team that is challenging for serie A as oppsoed to the 6th place team in england.

The above suggestion does not necessarily apply to ozil - if a club is interested in ramsey and we were able to get good value for him, let him fcuk off too cos I dont for one minute believe that he is not replaceable. Wellshit, perez, joel campbell, ospina etc are all worth money so move the fcukers on asap so that we can go after these top quality players before they are all snapped up by other clubs.

I believe Ozil is super talented but he needs to be playing in the right set up surrounded by the right players, with the right manager. Wouldn't bother me if we got shot of him though. We have been absolutely desperate for a Viera replacement for over a decade now. Wenger thought he could replace him with a bunch of lightweight, attacking midfielders....when he eventually relented ever so slightly, he bought Xhaka

It wouldn't bother me one bit if Ramsey, Ozil & Xhaka got sold. The most worrying thing for me is that Emery said last week that he is desperate to keep Ramsey as he wants to build the team around him.

Agreed. I haven't felt this excited about renewing the st in years. Manys the time that I've questioned the shocking amount of £££££ I've spent over the last distressing 7 years of 'judge me in May' (but the myopic twat never said which fucking May). But this year I've been quite happy parting with mine and Pixies hard earned cash! It'll take a couple of seasons to sort out but at least the excitement is back.

He certainly isnt a CDM.

Is he a CM per se ? I'm not sure cos I dont think that he is disciplined enough to play there and would leave his midfield partner high and dry too often - he would need someone extremely disciplined/selfless and at least as good as fernandinho (citeeh player), that would allow him to fcuk off at will, and tbh I'm not even sure if that is workable.

Is he a number 10 playing off the striker(s) ? There is no doubt he is very good at grabbing goals with his late runs into the box, but I dont think that he is creative enough to play as a number 10. In a good/strong team ozil is a perfect 10 cos he has the skill and vision (if bothered) to see and make the defence splitting passes, and I dont think ramsey has that tbh.

I would liken the ramsey situation to the cesc conundrum - cesc (although miles better than ramsey) cannot survive in a traditional 2 man centre midfield cos he isn't and never was physically strong enough, whilst ramsey cannot play there for positioning discipline issues imo. I would have zero problems selling ramsey right now, as long as we dont have to sell him at a reduced price due to his contract situation. I always thought that it made sense to renew ozil's contract cos we would get a better price when selling him, but the ridiculous 350k per week is gonna make it nigh on impossible to shift him unless we agree to pay a chunk of his wages for the remainder of his contract. We are in the same situation now, but as long as we dont overpay ramsey, there will always be a buyer in england for him
