Good piece from Ian Herbert in i newspaper today. Not particularly analytical (not that it needs to be) but identifies exactly why Arsenal fans should be pissed off at Wenger for selling van Judas to United and his subsequent conduct relating to the matter.

Arsene managed to stave off the first signs of the media vultures earlier this season with a few timely results but a combination of van Judas winning the PL for United and us missing out on our coveted VT would see them well and truly circling. Journalists have already sharpened their knives and writing articles on van Judas' sale is what they'll use to pretend they aren't fickle when they slam the man they've put unconditionally on a pedestal.

You could go on all day with that sort of thinking. Maybe all the clubs wanting to pay 30M for the guy should have known better as well, eh? It's not like Arsenal haven't had their fair share of stars purchased for little to nothing compared to others.

Exactly. There are so many shit players and so many great signings made every season by other clubs.

More useful to compare our signings to what we'd expect from the price tag and what we needed from the signing. In which case most of them fall down anyway.

Agree with that, but it's just the markets that we look into are too slim and always are, Wenger is so blinkered he would never think of going to other markets other than the African and French markets that he always shops in... he's far too stuck in his fucking ways...

Problem is every other club is looking in the markets that we used to have the pick off. I've heard people say there's been no quality in France in the last decade - bollocks. Just because we've signed Koscielny, Gervinho, Cygan and Giroud in that time doesn't mean there's no quality there, just that they're going elsewhere. Pundits love(d) to rave about "JT" and "Lamps" but Chelsea's success was built around a core of players from Ligue 1 every bit as much as English players.

You've got a point about Players Like Fabregas, But that was when we were successful and had David Dein.

Wenger is clueless, Everyday I lose support and respect for him because he will buy a player like Gervinio, and pay ridiculous wages for Park, Chamakh and Denilson. When we could be Investing that money into a World Class player like Lewandowski or David Villa, Yes I belive FFP is a good idea and spending only what you have is logical, but save that money that's going down the drain on players like bendter. And stick your neck out like Fergie did with RVP and spend 20-30mil on a replacement for the class we keep losing. The way he is running the club is not good enough,it seems as if he's just lost respect for us gooners, by settling for 4th place trophy every season and getting knocked out of cups by Bradford and Blackburn.. We should be INVINCIBLES. Vieira, Henry, Bergkamp, Pires, campbell, To name a few. These are players we've lost and just haven't replaced. Its not success anymore. 8 years without a trophy is not good enough when your Arsenal simple as, We are one of the greatest teams to ever win a trophy.

Is Wenger the man who went all season unbeaten and Arsenal are known as the Invincibles? Is Wenger the man who won a couple of doubles? Is wenger the man who has won a few trophies? Is wenger the man who hasn't won a trophie for 8years but got to a Champions league final and a league cup final in that time? Is Wenger the man who hasnt been able to compete financially with foriegn investors recently, but soon will be able to just like Bayern, when the stadiums paid for? I think I'll stick by him a little bit longer, and watch him win the prem again.
