Because Ian Wright has been a source of worldly football knowledge since he entered the media hasn't he....

I can't see Vieira coming back, I know it may not sometimes seem like it with our injury problems but one of the things that Wenger is hot on is the fitness levels of players. Vieira was on his way down when he left us, I thought he was noticably not the same player in his last season for us so I really don't think he could cut it now.

He would do a better job then Song, Denilson and Diaby put together though, and maybe, just maybe having someone like Paddy in the squad would make those donkeys better players for the future, because nwither of them are good enough to help our team challenge for honors...

Rubbish, read my post above - he would be good for their development granted - but Vieira would not cut it in the Premiership anymore, he would be nothing more than a squad player at best. As AT says, he was on the decline in 2005 due to the sort of awesome game he used to play and the injuries took their toll - he could not reproduce that anymore, hence why he went to a slower league.

According to Wenger we drove Greedywhore out; I'm hoping we can do the same with you... before someone has to (to quote your kinds favourite film) "take you to the fucking cleaners!"

This has got a bit of Shearer/Keegan back to Newcastle about it i.e. the messiah is returning. Yes it may boost the fans and players temporarily but can he benefit the team? Nope. He couldn't live with us when Juve visited Highbury so he definitely can't do a midfield job for 90 mins. Centre Half? Well if all you had to do was head a ball then 6'4" will come in handy but you need pace and he ain't got that.

So with the rose tinters off the answer is no (regrettably)

Sorry bdb, but i aint got the same WengerGoggles on as you. Vieira's experiance at the top level makes him start ahead of all those in my book.

Song is not and will not be good enough tp start games for us in the coming season, he is to slow and is nowhere near good enough to face up to the essien's, carrick's and Mascherano's of this league.

Denilson, is a good young player with decent potential (theres that word again) but was he not brought in as an attacking midfielder? What the fuck is he doing playing in a holding rold when he can not tackle properly??? what match is he to the top midfielder in this leage??

Diaby....No comment.....

Get them goggles off mate and have a look into reality. This squad is worse off then it was last summer, and if he dont get his finger out, we all know what will happen.

So let me get this straight, WWW that sensible bastion of broadcasting from talkshite says Paddy is coming back and the meeja have gone all moist at the prospect??

No Thanks as he's over the hill and is no better than what we've got which is crap by the way.

Wenger is walking a very thin line at the moment as this money has to be re-invested or this will be his last season imho.

I don't understand how a player who is past his best is going to improve other players in our squad?

Because of his experiance at carrying Arsenal through seasons, and leading this team through probably its most succesfull era to say the least. Not to mention, he is still, even at his old age, better then Song, Denilson and Diaby.

I think experience is a worthwhile attribute as long as you have ability alongside it, otherwise you might as well put Seaman in goal.

If Vieira was so amazing I think someone might have snapped him up on a free by now.

Its nothing to do with Wenger goggles tho has it? And i wasnt mentioning anything about the current squad, im saying Vieira is not the answer.

Vieira was probably the best Midfielder in the world in his prime, but he has long since past that. Song and Denilson could add more to a centre midfield that Vieria could nowdays over the course of a season, and Vieira would be overrun by a lot of CMs in the Premiership, the pace of the game would be too much for him, just as it was when he came back for Juve a few years ago.

Fantastic player, but not what we need. As i say him coming would have small merits, we do have problems in the sqaud, but Vieira won't solve any of them.
